Poignant piece by an excellent physician illustrating that practicing medicine remains an art and a science.
I thought some Freepers would be interedted in this.

The motto of the ancient Benedictine Order, "Ore et Labore," Work and Pray, has often been rephrased "Labore est Ore," Work is Prayer. Every sincere effort to heal or to comfort the sick is the finest prayer anyone can make.

Yes -- poignant article.
My dad is a physician, and my father-in-law works at a hospice. They are both Christians, and are in their professions to serve people, to treat the "whole person." Of course there are times when it is good to address the spiritual. And both of them pray for those they care for.
