Nicosia now says he didn't know that at the time. I have his book which has some material in there that is fairly damning to Kerry (I'm sure you do as well, as it was a good seller issued recently. 2001 IIRC, and still in print).
It's clear from the tenor of the book that Nicosia is in full sympathy with the movement. This also shows in that he forwarded his FOIA documents to the Kerry campaign rather than going public with them. But I think it is interesting that Nicosia is not spinning, now that he's cornered on the issue. That makes me think he probably didn't lie in his earlier statement, he was just wrong about it.
Scott is doing yeoman work with wintersoldier.com. I don't see where it interferes with the NY Sun in any way, and I commend Jerome Corsi for his hard work in this -- as well as his calm and equable approach. I too would like to see a lasting archive of VVAW material on the web. Much of the public image of the veteran and the military, particularly in the leftish Northeast, flows from the protests of the sixties and the men behind them. My personal opinion, often stated here, is that the public image is a falsehood that was perpetrated by impostors, and I'm interested in evidence that confirms or falsifies my hypothesis. The more we know about those turbulent times the better off we are.
As far as the partisan aspects are concerned, we are in the middle of a political campaign, which is what has provided the impetus for a reexamination of these long-dormant files and stale ideas. We can't but expect matters that bear on character, integrity, and leadership to become political footballs.
