With Guthries help, an FBI SWAT team surrounded Langans parked van at dawn on Jan. 18, 1996. Without warning, the FBI opened fire on Langan. Incredibly, after 47 rounds pieced the subjects van, the fugitive was able to emerge only slightly wounded. Well, isn't that interesting. If true, that's just a Chicago style rub-out. But with really bad aim.

I seem to recall that the feds who gunned down the subject who was supposed to be John Dillinger coming out of Chicago's Biograph theater managed to hit an innocent bystander or two as well, a fairly common component of federal *killed during arrest* operations. When possible, they try to cover it up by blaming it on their dead victims, who can't tell otherwise. But sometimes the witnesses sqwawk, and the real story gets out.
