Kennedy: CIA Will Confirm That Kerry Met With Foreign Leaders
Newsmax ^ | 3/21/04

efending Sen. John Kerry against charges he fabricated claims of meetings with foreign leaders who offered their political support, Sen. Ted Kennedy said Sunday that the Central Intelligence Agency will verify Kerry's account.

Asked to identify the leaders Kerry met with, Kennedy told NBC's "Meet the Press": "The CIA knows it. They work for the president. They can give him the names of all of those countries."

Kennedy complained that the White House still hasn't identified the members of Vice President Dick Cheney's Energy Task Force or the White House official who leaked the name of CIA employee Valerie Plame.

But when pressed on Kerry's alleged meetings with foreign leaders, Kennedy reiterated the claim that the CIA will back his account up.

"He's obviously - he's met leaders over a period of time," he told "Meet the Press." "And anyone - the CIA knows who they - if the White House is really interested in those leaders, they control the CIA, the CIA gives them those lists."

I can just see Kerry cringing on the slopes when he hears that now he is going to have the CIA on his back because of Kennedy's big mouth.

Cringing? Hell, he probably fell down for the first time in his life...

Yep. Just the same way that the Dept. of Energy will declare that his blood is highly flammable and could be used as an alternate fuel source for cars and trucks...

Actually Kerry right now probably wishes he hit a tree instead of falling down on the snowboard.

Indeed! The "man of the People" spending his time in a resort that most of his voters could not afford to enter. The same representative of "The Little Guy" who lives in a mansion that he paid to transport from the UK to the US (weren't American construction workers good enough to build his hacienda?). Sounds as though Goerge III was reincarnated and wants to rule again.

Yup. If the Democrats print up a bumpersticker proclaiming "Four out of Five European and MiddleEast leaders secretly endorse and support John Kerry for President of the United States!" I'll proudly sport it on the bumber of my Freepmobile. Go Kerry/Kennedy Go!!

Kennedy must have been drunk when he made this statement.

CIA will back his account up. Sure they will.
I thought they had bad intelligence.

Mr. swimmer, sure they have bad intelligence, but it was not the W.H. or W. who started this controversies. It was the "efending" himself and then a pour soul asked him at a town meeting? And was told it was none of his business. However, Mr. swimmer, WE the people wants to KNOW who he was meeting with!

I doubt it. Since Kerry started running for president, he's had the media spotlight on him. He can't cross the street, let alone travel to a foreign country without somebody knowing about it. Nobody, let alone a foreign leader, could meet him in this country without somebody knowing about it.

Just like a child's imaginary playmates, this looks like Kerry's imaginary foreign leaders.

If, and I stress if, Kerry has met with 'foreign' I believe he has committed a breech of US Statutes for doing this on the sly. Not that it would matter.

But it's such a close tie between Wesley Clarke and Ted Kennedy for MORON of the year. Just saw Clarke plugging Kerry as a the best man to hire him [Clarke] for Secretary of State...indirectly of course!

Isn't meeting with foreign leaders in secret, plotting against a sitting US president considered treason?

Agreed. Kerry camp wants nothing to do with foreign 'endorsements', but Kennedy is still pushing it with CIA proof. What a bunch of fools.

This seems to me to be a 100% intentional ploy to hurt Kerry. Kennedy knew what he would say when he got there, and no doubt conferred with others in the party. He knows that Kerry wants to distance himself from the comments, and has determined that he won't let that happen.

This is just an outward example of the internal power struggle in the Democratic Party courtesy of the Clintons. I don't believe that the conventional wisdom that the power struggle is limited to a Clinton faction vs. a Kerry faction is true, however. I believe there are others who want control, and Kennedy is aligned with them. He has no love for the Clintons because the decision by Hillary to run for the Senate kept John Jr. from running for the seat. He's just shown he also doesn't back Kerry.

I am very curious who the power behind the scenes is, because Kennedy's career is just about over, and he knows it. He's fronting for someone. He wouldn't do this without someone backing him up, and nobody is assuming that Teddy is the future of the party.
