Thanks, Triple-M! There were indications on Today this morning that the smear attempt is losing steam and starting to backfire. It was Katie's first day back from several days of vacation (and I must admit that she was looking very nice with a tan and a pink sweater).

You just know that she would have loved to try to keep the story alive with another day of attacks, but all she could come up with for a guest was the member of the Bush administration who replaced Clarke. And his basic point, without being too political, was that this was probably a guess of hurt feelings and ego on Clarke's part because he no longer had the access to the President he enjoyed in the Clinton Administration.

Katie's heart really didn't seem to be in asking any hard questions. I think the Dems have realized that they've run this one up the flagpole and no one has saluted.
