When you compare these travesties with the wider and more sensationalist scandals, you get a disturbing picture of trends in the church in America and the spineless waffling of Catholic leaders.

There is no reason any of these events had to happen. And, once again, sadly, they were funded with Catholic money. The bishops and college presidents have a lot of explaining to do. Cutting off funds to these non-Catholic and anti-Catholic frauds may be the best way to voice protest.

You remind me of my in-laws...calling Catholics a bunch of hypocrites and criticizing every move we make.

You walk around thumping your bible and plastering your cars with bumper stickers and dressing your kids up in bible-quote tee-shirts.

And then when you're short on food stamps and welfare money, you go running to Catholic Charities because you know it's the only charity that gives with NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND NOTHING REQUIRED.

The Catholic Church is THE ONLY CHURCH THAT TEACHES RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE. Sure, it's a little messed up here and there, but so is my family, and so is yours.

Now, go sneak a beer and think about casting stones.

I worship Egyptian gods and worship a wafer and live in constant fear for my salvation because of laws passed in the 1600's because of this wafer.

Let me tell you something: I question the motives of the Catholic Church everyday. I question ALL religious motives. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus. I do not believe that any man, including the Pope, is any more sacred or holy than anyone else. They are merely humans, such as me, and are therefore sinners who have no right to judge my sins.

I do not believe that worshiping a "wafer" will get me to heaven. I believe that the "wafer" is a means for Catholics to share in the community of Christ.

I believe that helping an old man change a tire in a snowstorm is Eucharist. I believe that praying for my enemies is Eucharist. I believe that doing the best I can, in everything I do, is Eucharist. I believe that Eucharist is sharing the community that Jesus offers us all.

This is what I know about the Catholic Church. Everything I learned in the Catholic Church was taught to me by the Catholic Church....not by a cartoonist who feels he has been given the right to criticize everyone who does not believe in the same things he does.

I'm willing to bet that John Chick has not taken a vow of poverty, celibacy, nor chastity. It seems to me that he has devoted his life to drawing cartoons, instead of to Christ.

NO ONE will ever know if they have believed in the "right" things until they stand in judgment by God at the gates of Heaven. NO ONE can actually be 100% sure that their bible is the "right" bible. EVERYONE has an obligation to God to live as righteously as they can, without judging others.

Okay, Mofo? Would you let your kids hear you call yourself a mofo?
