Woman Shot by Gun in Oven

LAST UPDATE: 3/26/2004 8:28:38 AM Posted By: Jim Forsyth Watch this story...

(SAN ANTONIO) -- Talk about a recipe for disaster. A San Antonio woman was shot in the leg this morning when a handgun that a visitor had stashed in her oven, without telling her, discharged when the oven was turned on. Police say it all started a couple of weeks ago when two men arrived at the home of Roxanne Perez, 29 in the 300 block of Ware, on the city's south side, and one of them had a .357 handgun with him. Perez told the men she didn't allow handguns in her home, so rather than taking it out to the car, the man stashed it in the oven when she wasn't looking, and din't bother to warn her. About midnight this morning the woman started heating up some fish sticks in the oven and heated up the gun. It fired off several rounds, and one of them hit the unsuspecting woman in the leg. She's hospitalized in good condition, police say it was an accidental shooting and no charges will be filed.

I don't know what's worse: The gun charging, or fishsticks at midnight.

Better go change the tires on the house.

Nothing says lovin' like something from the oven

Fishsticks are bad for you.

Guns don't kill people, fishsticks kill people

When fishsticks are outlawed only outlaws will have fishsticks

I gotta get back to work but I could go on.

So, she apparently hadn't cooked anything in the oven for 2 weeks? And, then cooks fishsticks?

Not exactly the queen of chefs.

We need more laws to control these dangerous fish sticks.

We obviously need stricter oven control laws! How many children must die?

Do you think this is how it really happened or is this just some story she cooked up?

Handgun hidden in oven goes off, wounds woman [Stupid people with guns]
AP (via Buffalo News) ^ | 08/14

YONKERS (AP) - A 22-year-old woman was wounded when a handgun that had been hidden inside an oven discharged when she opened the door, police said.

Colsaun Bailey, the 17-year-old alleged owner of the gun, was arrested, though police said they did not believe he fired the weapon, the Journal News reported Wednesday.

"We are operating on the assumption that nobody picked up the gun and fired it," Police Capt. John McCoy told the newspaper.

Police said Bailey put two handguns in a bag and then placed it inside the oven, which someone later turned on. When the woman opened the oven door to see why smoke was coming from it, one of the guns discharged, striking her, police said.

A single bullet hit her in the forearm, hip and thigh, authorities said. Police said her wounds did not appear to be life-threatening.

Also there was a case in Michigan a couple of years ago and the same thing happened. I think the gun discharged wounding or killing a small child.

What is it with guns and ovens?

I mean, why not the freezer?

The gun was trying to protect her from overeating and getting obese. Smart gun didn't want her to sue anyone.

Huh? A visitor to a private home is told he is not permitted to bring his gun into the home; he secretly does so anyway, hiding it, loaded with a bullet in the chamber, in a dangerous place (a child could have gotten it, in addition to the hot oven risk), and there will be no charges against him?
