Republican Party has ignored its principles
The Greenville News ^ | March 26, 2004 | Robert G. Butch Taylor (letter to the editor)

In a recent letter to the president of the United States, I informed him of my resignation from the Republican Party in Greenville. I shall continue to be involved in the local political arena, but not as a Republican.

I am sick and tired of the Republicans selling us down the river. No matter how hard I try to institute positive change, Republicans and the Republican Party ignore my pleas. For this reason I have joined the U.S. Constitution Party and urge other conservatives to do the same.

Actually Willlie, I don't have time for people like Butch. If he wants to leave, fine by me. People come and go in all organizations, including poitical parties.

I am more concerned by the concerted effort of the media, the democrats, and the European socialists to bring down this presidency through lies, propoganda, and filtering of the news. I have no time to waste arguing about some malcontent that wants to make a grandstand play in a newspaper. There are more dangerous things going on now.

Hey, Dane-ster: you and I can actually agree on something! :-)

Thank you for the compliment and reaching out.

But I will never understand something about the Libertarians on FR.

They are for drug legalization and post incessantly about it as the holy grail, yet you say are against illegal immigration while the Libertarian party is bascially all for it(i.e The Libertarian platform of no borders). Basically the Libertarians agree with John Kerry on issues(drug legalization and immigration).

I know, I know, Libertarians will say that John Kerry is not for drug legalization, but we all basically know if Kerry(or Clinton for that matter) had their way their would be no laws against drugs.

Kinda of like the game Kerry plays when he states that he is against gay marriage, but we all know from his public comments that he has no qualms against it.

With respect to illegal aliens, yes they(Bush & Kerry) do

Whatever, no one is going to change your mind.

While the published facts point out that Bush is not for amnesty and Kerry is.

The published facts point out that anyone who follows the plan proposed will be eligible for citizenship, that is amnesty.

"am·nes·ty ( P ) Pronunciation Key (mn-st) n. pl. am·nes·ties - A general pardon granted by a government, especially for political offenses."

They will be pardoned for their crimes against our nation and rewarded with citizenship. Amnesty.

Screw principle.

etc., etc., etc....

Trying to denigrate Republicans by this back-handed 'compliment'?

Isn't this called trolling?

Huh? When have either of those guys been in favor of greater personal liberty & scaling back government regulations?

Yada, yada, yada, same old, same old from you.

But what the hey no one is stopping you from posting your anti-Bush immigration crusade, while you are silent about Kerry's real words about real amnesty.

The weirdos I was referring to are the ones that say: I'm not voting for Bush because : But then, maybe that's you and why you are so defensive.

Lincoln and the Republicans were against free trade in action and against slavery in their speeches

Bump for Doris ;)

I do but quote from one of those speeches when I declare that— I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so.

Sounds like that's against slavery to me, Doris.....

So Bush's words aren't real then? Is he just blowing smoke out his behind or what?

Have you even read the plans he supports Dane or are you (as usual) relying on what you're fed from others?

I am a conservative.. I go for ideology, not party. Many party members here on FR love to insult anyone that is not 100 % pro Bush.

Bush is going to need all the votes possible, name calling is a surefire way to drive people away.

"A system of beliefs and values that explains society and prescribes the role of government

Abv is shortest definition of conservative. I see nothing wrong with it.

Well said. It is to be hoped that the Demon Rat party will be utterly crushed and eliminated as a viable political entity in the next two or three election cycles. Then will be the time for a third party ascendance to the right of the Elephant.

And I have conservative values but am not a "true conservative". You seem to want to insult anyone that is not 100% convervative.

I simply respect and admire Bush for what he has done about terror. I am fearful for what some who vote for 3rd parties might do...elect John Kerry.

Now, more than ever, we need to be recruiting *FROM* the Constitution Party. If the GOP had not moved further to the Left than Jimmy Carter was in 1977, there would be no Constitution Party; only a larger GOP!

Great job, takes a lot of intelligence to spout stereotype BS about people from the south. Get a life. Ever here of freedom? He has the freedom to change parties if he wishes, that is his choice. By the way what stereotyping BS do you have about Hispanics? Blacks? Jews? Women? Handicapped people?
