March 28, 2004 -- IF elected president, will John Kerry offer the Arabs a better deal? This is the question raised in the Arab media these days. Many different answers are given, but a consensus seems to be emerging that a Kerry presidency will lift what the Arab elite regards as its worst nightmare during the presidency of George W Bush.

Everyone seems to want Kerry to be President except the American people.

I think John Kerry will announce that he has made a pact that will end terrorism. The Kerry-Hitler... I mean Kerry-Saud Pact.

Is there really any question? Yasser Arafat will have Kerry waiting at his feet with open tongue faster than Clinton could ever finish himself before a rose garden ceremony.

I am surprised he hasn't announced such a pact. Maybe he needs to wait until after that foreign trip this summer.

And when the Dems complained, the Editor's response was:

"In demanding the apology, Richmond County Democratic Party Chairman Lowell Greenbaum said Friday, "Either you take the high road or you'll hear from us."

Editorial Page Editor Michael Ryan said he would "no sooner apologize for an opinion than we would ask Mr. Greenbaum to apologize for his. To me, this cartoon is merely saying that terrorists would rather have John Kerry to deal with than George W. Bush. And I think that's not only a legitimate opinion but one that is borne out by the facts."

*sigh*

I just wish we would get to the part where Kerry announces he has won an agreement with the terrorists not to attack the US and says its "peace in our time".

Actually Morocco has been an effective ally, just not mentioned often.

Kerry would be on the phone to Osama, asking his permission to go to the bathroom.

Wow. Some write-up, especially for the NYT. Worth a bookmark so I'll have it as a reference.

It's not the NY Times. It's the NY Post.

The author, Amir Taheri is originally from Iran, has been writing a lot of excellent articles. He is pro-democracy in Iran.

Here is more about him and a list of his recent articles (with links)

Actually Morocco has been an effective ally, just not mentioned often.

1. Captain Dale Dye (USMC, Ret.) has said that after his dealings with Moroccans
(back during the Reagan/Papa Bush years?), he formed the opinion that the Moroccans are
"the straight shooters" of the Arab/Muslim world. He said that are pretty
honest and straigthforward.
(Dye is the fellow who does lots of consulting work on movies with military angles.)

2. The current king of Morocco has recently drafted a new charter/constitution that
espouses Western values, but invokes well-chosen passages from the Koran to
support the constructs of the constitution (quite a feat in my book!).
Things are fairly progressive; Concerned Women For America had some members
join a tour and them were impressed with the construction of schools in
rough areas for education of girls/young women. Definitely miles ahead of
lots of other Arab/Muslim countries.

In foreign affairs, Kerry will be the same old same old.

He will continue the same status quo water treading that existed before Bush yanked the rug from under "foreign policy as usual".

A Kerry admin will appeal to Euro-Arab sensibilities, more talk, less action, more pressure on Israel to deal with murders in the PA etc..etc...

It's be 8 yrs of back slapping and UN hot air with nothing accomplished.

The two "worked hard" to organize an exhibition in Boston to introduce "Saudi culture and civilization" to Americans.

Now there's an oxymoron.

Wasn't there a report that the leader of the Madrid bombing was a Morrocan?
