"Someone help me out here. Doesn't Virginia have a caucus system rather than primaries??"

Virginia has mass meetings, which are party-exclusive. However, they do have primaries, but an individual doesn't have to declare his or her party to vote.

In fact, I voted for Howard Dean in the Democratic primary a couple of months ago (snicker, snicker).

No caucus in VA.

Primary.

But, IF he voted republican (which is actually doubtful) did he vote for Bush or McCain in that primary?

He says he voted for Gore in the election itself.

". According to the Pentagon’s Defence Intelligence Agency, assassinated Afghan opposition leader Ahmed Shah Masood had "limited knowledge" of a planned attack against the United States and was warning the West of the threat. "

Anybody who was paying attention knew Al-Qaida was planning a "large" attack of some undefined sort. It was in the Chicago Tribune in June of 2001. Condi Rice was the one issuing the warning.

Why are press people so stupid?

"Bin Laden couldn't ask for a better setup than to have a high-level Clinton appointee remaining in the White House sabotaging the war on terror and its sources of information, and then years later, after the devastating attacks, turn around and be used as a witness against Bush prior to an election campaign."

Allegiance to America? ( Rolling Back Clinton-Time Magazine 1-22-01)

"One morning at the nub end of Bill Clinton's presidency, Clinton chief of staff John Podesta walked into a senior staff meeting in the Roosevelt Room waving a copy of USA Today. Holding the paper aloft, Podesta read the headline out loud, "Clinton actions annoy Bush." The article detailed the new rules and Executive Orders the outgoing President was issuing in his final days, actions aimed in equal measure at locking in Clinton's legacy (in areas like environmental protection) and bedeviling his successor. "What's Bush so annoyed about?" Podesta asked with a devilish smile. "He's got four years to try to undo all the stuff we've done." ......

"We laid a few traps," chirps a happy Clinton aide......

Nothing should be put past these people!

Do you really think he might have written that book?
Hmmm. IMHO I think he only had to memorize.

How long before he's given a job at the NYT?

He's already an analyst for ABC.

you can find the Clarke's testimony re "Republican ballot" early in the exchange with Secretary Lehman.

Just in case any one doubted his loyalty he then proceed to list the presidents he had worked for: Reagan, Bush and Bush. He did not mention Clinton!

"I voted for George W. Bush before I voted for Al Gore."

Did he, by chance, vote in Broward County, Florida? If so, we have another smoking gun, by chad!

He made me so angry I had to get on the elliptical machine before I exploded. First time I've been on it in a month.

Be careful! By the time the 'RATS campaign is over in November you may lose thirty pounds.

Ah, but you completely misunderstand the clintonian mind. Clarke DID vote Republican. He voted for McCain in the primary. Of course this means he voted against Bush nit once, but twice. But he did vote Republican.

I didn't vote for GWB in the 2000 Republican primary either - I preferred Alan Keyes. Does that qualify me as a Bush-basher?

...that he went out of his way in the 2000 primary to vote Republican specifically so that he could vote against Bush. That hardly sounds like someone who is a nonpartisan as far as President Bush is concerned.

Sounds like someone who was a mole in the Bush White House from the outset.....which reminds me of this...
How Clinton Left Ticking Terror Time Bombs For Bush To Discover."

Excerpt:
On the war on terror, Clinton was an utter and total failure. His record of inaction is bad enough, but his inability to grasp the dimensions of the issue, as I witnessed it in our conversations, was worse. In our time this may have become a trite phrase, but there's simply no other way to put it: He just didn't get it.

All our terrorist problems were born during the Clinton years.

All three critical situations America faces today -- al Qaeda, Iraq, and North Korea -- were either incubated or exacerbated on Bill Clinton's watch.
