Demonstrators Swarm Around Rove's Home
Washington Post ^ | March 29, 2004 | Steven Ginsberg

Posted on 03/29/2004 9:17:23 PM PST by seastay

The protest was organized by National People's Action, a coalition of neighborhood advocacy groups based in Chicago.

Leaders said they want Bush to advocate for the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, a bill that would permit immigrants who have lived in the United States for at least five years to apply for legal resident status once they graduate from high school. The measure would eliminate provisions of current federal law that discourage states from providing in-state tuition to undocumented student immigrants.

Immigrant activists say that 50,000 to 65,000 undocumented students graduate from U.S. high school each year and that many students can afford college only at the reduced, in-state rates given to legal residents.

IT IS A TRUE AMNESTY PROGRAM JOHN KERRY OPENLY SUPPORTS.

A true amnesty plan? LOL! And what do you call Bush's amnesty plan? Half an amnesty program? And untrue amnesty program? This is great. One guys amnesty plan is better than the others..

When are our leaders going to wake the hell up and figure out that amnesy should not be an issue period. Do they really want another 15 *million* uneducated, unskilled people crashing into this country in the next 10 years?

Do they not realize this will only open the flood gates for millions more?

I don't care much for Karl Rove at times, but a man's home is his castle and should be treated as such.

And our country is our homeland, and should not be treated as such.

You betcha. I think it would be a great idea, if 5 or 10 million illegals all marched on DC to make their demands, and shut that entire town down for a few days. Better yet, let them all stay there. See how they like it.

Is there some reason why these punks can't be arrested for trespassing and locked up in jail for the night to think it over?

Something about this scene makes me think of French aristocrats under siege from peasants during the French Revolution.

Actually I call it an extension of the temporary worker program we already have in place. We have had temporary unskilled labor in this country for decades. It was centered around certain industries.

If anyone is upset about immigration, Kerry is your worst nightmare. Kerry is looking to make true amnesty but don't take just my word, take Kerry's own words from johnkerry.com:

Fairness And Security In Immigration Policy
John Kerry believes that America needs immigration policies that are fair and safe. The United States is a diverse nation built by people from all parts of the world who are here because they believe in freedom, democracy, and justice. Immigration is central to our nation’s history, as almost all of us are immigrants or the descendants of immigrants. At the same time, John Kerry believes the federal government must secure our borders so that terrorists do not use our immigration system as a means to enter the country and do us harm.

Priorities

Efficient Citizenship and Enforcement Services
John Kerry supports efforts to cut the backlog of applications pending with the Bureau for Citizenship and Immigration Services, speed up the naturalization process and reduce the wait for family visas and other important matters. John Kerry has also called for reforming and adequately funding border enforcement to ensure that only legal immigrants can enter the country.

Restoring and Protecting Benefits for Legal Immigrants
John Kerry supports efforts to restore benefits to legal immigrants. The 1996 welfare reform law made most legal immigrants, including those already in the United States, ineligible for welfare, health care and other essential programs. In the years since, some of these benefits have been restored and John Kerry remains committed to fighting for the full restoration of benefits for legal immigrants.
[emphasis in red added]

Supporting the DREAM Act
John Kerry supports legislation that would provide immigration relief to undocumented young people who have spent their formative years in the United States, who have graduated from high school here, and who can demonstrate good moral character. The DREAM Act repeals a law that prevents these promising young people from attending college in the United States.

[the law refers to laws that eliminated the anchor babies used to have minors keep whole families safe from deportation.]

Family Reunification
John Kerry believes that we should unite and not divide families by making family reunification the cornerstone of our immigration system. John Kerry supports allowing immigrants who are eligible for permanent resident visas to be processed in the United States rather than processed in their home country. He also supports restoring the discretion of immigration judges to evaluate cases on an individual basis and grant relief to deserving immigrants and their families.

[Discretion Republican removed due to abouse. These judges are appointed by the president. Judge educated on ABA certified law schools. Judges who often leave the black robes in order to practice law before their collegues to cash in on the immigration business.]

Expedited Citizenship for Members of the Armed Forces
John Kerry believes the naturalization process for legal permanent residents serving in the Armed Forces should be expedited, the naturalization filing fee should be waived, and armed service members should be allowed to naturalize overseas. More than 37,000 legal permanent residents serve in the military nationally.

Earned Legalization
John Kerry supports a proposal that will allow undocumented immigrants to legalize their status if they have been in the United States for a certain amount of time, have been working, and can pass a background check. This makes sense for the economy, provides fairness to people in our communities who have worked hard and paid taxes, and will also allow us to strengthen our homeland security by bringing undocumented workers out of the shadows and into the light of greater accountability.

[underline added: this is the law NOW]

Yup. Karl Rove thought sucking up to La Raza was a magnificent political opportunity as long as it was just little people out West who were paying the bill for Open Borders. Welcome to the party, Karl.

I hope they grafitti his house.

I guess it's a matter of where you live. There's a lot of Californians who give Bush an 'F' on immigration. That Kerry gets an 'F-minus' isn't persuasive.

Sorry, I don't know how to post a link, but there is a very good article, by Matt Hayes (an immigration attorney, by the way), on FOX News website. It is called "Is Mexico Thwarting U.S. Immigration Enforcement", and it details the conspiracy by these groups and the Mexican government. Just do a website search on FOX, using "Matt Hayes", and its the first article listed on the page. I guess politicians don't want to realize this is an actual invasion---in the true sense of the word!

LOL..Call it what you will, but it nothing but amnesty, and the current pandering to Presidente Fox and these endless waves of law breakers is disturbing, to put it mildly.

I am sick of having to settle for the better of two evils as the country slides down the slippery slope. Either way, were still headed downward.

An invasion it is. There's a couple of websites that do an excellent job on keeping up on immigration news. Unfortunately, one is not at all welcome at FR, but I think AmericanPatrol.com is okay to mention.

Immigration is so ******* up, the other day I heard the USA will allow a bunch of "disenfranchised" Mexicans to re-apply under REAGAN'S AMNESTY OF 1986!!!
