OMG...how can human beings celebrate like that (rhetorical question)....Hell, even if we caught OBL I wouldn't dance in the street on his corpse...I sometimes wonder why we are trying to improve the lives of barbarians.

I was thinking the same thing. If one of us killing Osama Bin Laden we may want to celebrate but not by mutilating his corpse and playing with it! These people are disgusting and they ALL seem to share their fondness of playing with dead things. A Sunni Muslim Arab child would rather play with a dismembered corpse than a soccer ball. Which of you guys on Free Republic would get so happy if you killed OBL that you couldn't resist to mutilate him with a shovel and drag him behind your car? That alone shows the difference between civilized people and Islamic Arab Ghouls.

Because this is a war. This is far from new, and is no different than Somalia, or our POWs being beaten and paraded through the streets of Hanoi, or what went on during the Korean War, and numerous wars before that.

I don't think we are trying to improve their lives, I think we removed a dictator and potential future threat. I hope and pray that this war doesn't turn into a nation-building mission or we'll be there for many years, and we'll continue to lose an American a day (or more). It looks like nation-building at times, but I hope that's just a preparation for turning the place over to an elected government.

Anytime anybody tells you the war was over last summer, just point them to this thread or this website : Those killed supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom

That will be the reaction of many, I'm afraid.

This is a point which should not be lost sight of. Mohammedanism is not a "religion of peace." It is, instead a primitive pagan religion which turns its adherents into, as you so accurately put it, "barbarians."

This is truly, not a 'clash of civilizations' (only one 'civilization' here), but a clash of cultures: a Judeo-Christian culture against a primitive pagan culture. Until we realize that, attempts to overlay the accoutrements of a Christian culture over the rotten core of primitivism will fail.

You fell into the Baathist/Al Qaeda/media/int'l leftist movement trap. They want you to believe that this thuggery is spontaneous and representative of the Iraqi populace. In truth it is representative of only a portion of the local Nazi Baathist party and the rent-a-jihad crowd. I betcha at least half of those doing the cheering in those photos are really from outside of Iraq. 10% of Iraq belonged to or benefited from the Baath Party, 90% were repressed by them. Why would those who have been freed and whose living standards have reason be cheering the death of their liberators? Today there is higher school attendance, more potable water, and more electricity than when Saddam was in power, and no political prisoners or systematic torture/disappearances. Please don't fall for the media lies and their lies by ommissions. Most Iraqis are not barbarians, but some of the Baathists, and the terrorists and jihadists are.

I say give them what they want. Pull out and let Saddam rule as before--These jerks do not want or need democracy. Or better yet--let the Kurds rule in Baghdad. See how nice they will be to their former masters. I once read--people get the government they deserve. It looks like these murderous butchers deserve a tyrant like Saddam.

Good point, I feel the same way. Now, if it was Terry Macauliffe...

(just kidding)

I think it is human nature. Don't you remember the comic celebrations, on this site, of Rachel Corrie getting "flap jacked" by the bulldozer?
