In-state tuition at state universities is made possible by that state's taxpayers. And those same taxpayers will probably discover that their children are denied admission to those state universities so that there are places available for illegal aliens who will be given preference in admissions because they qualify for affirmative action/diversity "protected status" as "under-represented" minorities.

These same illegals will also have special programs designed for them to make sure they succeed; it's vitally important for these state universities to report their retention success. In the state universities where I've worked, funding from the state government is dependent upon the university showing that it recruits, retains, and graduates a specified percentage of minorities. I believe there are even special grading allowances, i.e., two separate standards, one for white students and one for minorities. In other words, get into this country any way you can and prepare to exploit all the government handouts available to you. And complain about it if you don't get what you think is your share.

In many ways, these are precisely the people who have the most to lose from a Bush immigration reform founded on responsibility and the American Dream rather than subsidy and entitlement.

This is what the WSJ takes away from the episode - trying to making a silk purse from a sow's ear.

"My two sons are inside" when he only had one-is not really wierd---if this was going on and I would be madder than him I am sure(my husband would have his rifle out already) I would say "my kids are inside" or something to that effect. What difference does it make- the point was kids were involved- it is a HOME-not an office or organization- these people are sick- the 60's Hillary radicals are back.......

Gotta disagree with you. I think Rove was trying to get some extra victim points. How much harder is it to say "my son and his friend are inside right now?" Not much harder at all, and in fact requires less planning than claiming a neighbor kid is yours. I think Karl's feeling a wee bit touchy these days (esp. with Hughes coming back, as someone noticed), and might have snapped. I personally think he's pretty overrated. The 2000 campaign wasn't exactly a stellar success--only Gore's incredible tank-job sealed the deal.

To put it another way, what we had on Sunday was the spectacle of immigration "leaders" directing their ire at the most pro-immigration Administration in recent memory.

Methinks Karen Hughes has been brought back on the scene because Mr. Rove is falling out of favor.

I guess you didn't see Karen on the factor then. She seemed very supportive of the Bush plan saying we have employers willing to hire employees and we have to accommodate that.

I'm not upset with your immigration policy opinions - I'm upset that you are personally attacking Karl Rove. Your statements about him are just over the top.

You don't agree with Karl - Whoop-dee-doo! But to malign and misrepresent him as a person shows your total ignorance regarding who Karl is and what he stands for.

I may not like our present immigration policy - but where were you people while the Clinton admin was allowing all those Saudi people into America using false documentation; never following up on them when they claimed to be attending school - and were getting flying instructions instead??
