A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH (PHOTOS): 3.31.04

Baseball fans, draw near. President and Mrs. Bush hosted a luncheon for baseball's Hall of Fame members and new inductees in the State Dining Room at the White House. (Mr. Bush will throw out the first pitch on Monday in St. Louis.)

Laura Bush continued hosting Marta Sahagun de Fox, wife of Mexican President Vicente Fox, as the two First Ladies visited Martha's Table, an organization that helps low-income and homeless children, families and individuals in Washington. They packaged sandwiches for distribution and read a book in English and Spanish to children in a bilingual day-care class.

In an unwitting effort to carry on the cherry tree vs. magnolia tree controversy from yesterday's Dose, Mrs. Bush met with the 2004 Cherry Blossom Princesses in the East Room of the White House.

QUOTES OF THE DAY: "Today I have informed the Commission on Terrorist Attacks Against the United States that my National Security Advisor, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, will provide public testimony."

(At the White House Baseball Hall of Fame luncheon) "Thank you all for coming. ... We have a fair amount of lunches and dinners here, and I've got a confession to make -- this is my favorite one. It's kind of like having your baseball card collection spread out in real life."

President Bush, back center, welcomes members of the Baseball Hall of Fame to a Luncheon at the State Dining room of the White House (When I glanced at this in thumbnail size, the table looked like the back of a fancy turtle species.)

My winter-dormant interest in baseball is revived!

The president is always happiest surrounded by baseball players.

From mystery-ak on yesterday's dose, re Mike:

"His surgery is at 8:30 eastern [Thursday]....supposed to be the best dermotolgist/plastic surgeon there."

Excellent.

Glad you're feeling better.

Hey,
Thanks for doing this. Our trip to MS was great. I do have allergy problems now since we drove some of the time with the top down on her car. It was perfect weather. My mom is not doing well but at her age who is?

Here are some pictures I found of the cherry blossoms in DC. Looks like the picture of the tree with the President is not a cherry tree:

http://dcpages.com/Tourism/Cherry_Blossoms/2003/cb-view.php?s=11

When you get to the site, you can click on picture # 10-14, which gives you a really good look at what the cherry blossoms really look like.
