SENATE COVERAGE -- (APRIL '04)
http://www.senate.gov/ ^ | 04-01-2004 | US SENATE and others

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House if it gets hot).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor you don't have to start a new thread, you can just use this one also if you have a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Majority and Minority

Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Yeah, I like the musical interludes.

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen Byrd lately.

Whenever the Senate is in late night session, usually it's a fairly important topic, so I'll tune in...wife hates it when I do that, but the long quorum calls, and the great music, are excellent times for "intimacy"... of course, if the Senate comes back to soon, and Ted Kennedy or Byrd gets the floor, well, needless to say, it has a "negative" effect on me.....(G)

Byrd hasn't looked well of late...the palsy seems more pronounced...I think that is goal is to die on the Senate floor...

First, before she got up, did you notice Harry(Reid-D-NV) was 'threatening' to tell us more about the rabbits? ;-)

Second, have you picked up on the new dims mantra that anything that doesn't end up as predicted, is now a lie? Even when it is the responsibility of say the Congress for appropriations?

When this c*** starts saying 'the President promised he would hold sway' with the OPECer countries, she fails to mention that we are now at war in their neighborhood and they see themselves as the next possible target. That makes a big difference in how responsive they might be from jawboning from the guy holding that sword above their heads.

Also did you hear GWB's new friend. "Big Coal"?

Last, on a lighter note, have you noticed the proliferation of green, or bluish green ties? I used to often be almost the only one who wore green ties, now they are popping up like weeds. :)

Harry said that he has heard the Republicans want to shut them out of debate like they were going to before, until he took the floor for an extended period of time. If he starts to read from his book again and I'm not around, give 'abner' a ping, she liked his book. :)

You mean he's actually not voting on pork for West Virgninia?
How irresponsible.
When does he run for re-election?

I have one for you.
Bush supposedly has friends in Big Oil because of his business and because of his Texas roots, right?
So, if Kerry is from Boston, and his wife is a ketchup heiress, why don't we call Kerry's friends Big Beans?

If he does have Big Coal, then he just got West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

I like it.

If Kerry had his way back in '71, 8 or 9 other Senators would have followed predicated the act.
