I agree. Immediacy is important.
Evidently we were unable to with sufficient numbers, force or planning or all the above.
not wise on our part.

Fallujah braces for US reprisal Uh, ok. So they've been "bracing" for two freakin' days already. So when the hell is this "reprisal" going to happen!?!

Exactly my point...
We have time to study the films of the mob....identify any leaders or major participants....investigate their associations -- and THEN kill them all and all who stand with the bastards..
In the meantime -- you must know that these bastards don't believe their own propaganda --- and they know that death will seek them out..
If we're wrong -- and there is NO sufficient American response to the attack, then this administration SHOULD fall.
If President Bush is NOT going to fight this war as is should be fought - then bring in a Democrat and surrender.

I'd bet my paycheck that it was a local commander's decision. And it was probably made over the very strong objections of his subordinates.

I agree with you.
It's FAR too easy for us all to get emotional (rightfully so) over this horrific act, but to wipe out an entire city............or to have gone rushing to the scene with armor to recover the long-dead bodies........would have been foolish, at best.
No, I have to say I like the way the Marines are handling this. Cool........collected..........icy resolve...........and no doubt PISSED. They're professionals, and they will handle this professionally. The little pissant bastards that did this, and those who egged them on or otherwise abetted them, are dead men; they just don't know it yet. The word WILL get out: don't f**k with the Marines. After you dance and prance and wave your blood-soaked hands into the cameras, you have to go home sometime.
.............and we own the night.

I hope so.

You're probably right about the divisions, but unfortunately, WE DON'T HAVE THEM! I'd be all for putting a couple more divisions in theater, but I don't think that's going to happen. You might get the whole Marine regiment to give them their kind attentions, and maybe elements of someone else (101st Airborne?) but I can't imagine getting much more.
