LOS ANGELES (AP) - Kelly Osbourne, the 19-year-old daughter of heavy metal star Ozzy Osbourne, has checked into a drug rehabilitation center for an addiction to painkillers, her parents said Friday night in a televised interview.

Kelly Osbourne's younger brother, Jack, 18, checked himself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic last year and Ozzy Osbourne has been candid about his decades of battles with substance abuse.

The siblings became international stars following the success of the MTV reality show ``The Osbournes,'' which shows an oft-dazed Ozzy doting over his dysfunctional family with wife-manager, Sharon. The Osbourne's oldest daughter, Aimee, has not taken part in the show, which returns April 6 for its third season on MTV.

Ozzy, 55, and Sharon Osbourne, 51, talked about their daughter's drug problem Friday night on CNN's ``Larry King Live.''

Sharon Osbourne said that an English tabloid notified them Friday that they had a photograph of Kelly in an apparent drug deal.

Kelly Osbourne was confronted and eventually acknowledged a drug problem ``after a lot of twisting,'' Sharon Osbourne said.

Ozzy said that his daughter denied having a stash of drugs, but the family's maid said she had found a bag of pills underneath her bed.

``So the bag was delivered to me, and I opened this bag and it was full of pills. ... There must have been 500 pills,'' he told King.

Within hours, Kelly's brother drove her to the Promises rehabilitation center in Malibu.

When asked on the interview show if she had advice on how to steer children away from drugs, Sharon Osbourne responded somberly.

``I'm a failure,'' she replied. ``How can I give anybody advice?''

The Osbournes said that for every good thing that has happened to their family, there also have been difficulties. Sharon Osbourne announced in 2002 that she was undergoing treatment for colon cancer, which is now in remission, and Ozzy last year was injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident in England.

Yeah, I remember when anyone who dared criticized the Osbournes' (Ozzy and his wife were "great parents") was viciously attacked (around here).

Now, the mother laments that neither of her two drug-addicted children are homosexual.

My husband and I watched the first season of their MTV show. It was different, and often amusing. There is nothing amusing about this family now, though they still are different. Thank God for that!

Please don't take any personal offense, and I feel badly for the pathetic individuals involved, but, really, who cares? These small-talent miscreants have glorified some of the worst elements of our (individual and collective) psyche. Their children are/were/will be in drug rehab - quelle surprise!! They are best ignored, as I should have just done.

Actually from what I've seen. Aimee appears fairly well adjusted and not to mention seems to have gotten most of Sharon's genes in the looks department. Thank God!

Upon hearing that her daughter was entering drug rehab, Sharon covered her face with her hands and exclaimed, "Why couldn't she be a lesbian, like normal girls her age!?"

The Osbournes are the personification of the term "dysfunctional family". Sharon and Ozzy, with their brains fried on drugs, are the cause. Shame on both of them.

As a recovering alcoholic myself, (and someone who started drinking heavily in my early teens) I have to say that I can't imagine how hard it is to be a young person, let alone a celebrity, in today's society. It's very easy for you all to say, just say no. When society is telling you one thing, but you're seeing another and you're feeling yet another. I'm glad it didn't get to a point where she was harmed or harmed another. I hope she succeeds.

Me too. I like the Osbournes. Obviously the parents do not want their kids doing drugs and I think they love their kids a lot. They beat the odds by staying married so long too. Shoot I know Christian parents who have done all they can do and still and thier unmarried kids pregnant and go wild and take drugs. It has to be very hard for a celebrity kid to stay away from drugs. I hope Kelly gets better.

She's got that right. Am I reading this correctly, that the parents just found out that very day that Kelly was involved with drugs? At least it didn't affect their ability to go on Larry King Live!

They I have no doubts that they love their kids, but they're not exactly parents of the year. Sharon Osbourne admitted in another article I read that "she thought her daughter's drug use was 'social,' a thing she did with friends." And this was *after* having their son go through rehab already!
