I took my daughter to Scooby-Doo 2 last weekend, they played this trailer. My daughter and I were both leaning forward in our seats for the whole thing. When Hermoine punched Malfoy we both looked at each other with a "Whoa!" expression on our faces. We can't wait.

From the look of this trailer it appears they will stay true to the book again.

I love those books. I think its interesting that the Harry Potter movies have come out around the same time as the Lord of the Rings movies. Both are very Morally Clear(I.E. No moral relativism)

I just finished reading them. It's been a long time since I enjoyed reading something that much.

Some people feel it's wierd or anti-religious that they make stories out of witchcraft/wizardry... but I think the underlying messages I get from the book are
1. Confront Evil even when those around you would rather pretend it isn't there.
2. Make a world that is good, happy, and safe for children
Maybe i"m reading too much into them, but those are the messages I get from it, and why I actually consider them "Conservative" books.

Thanks! I've enjoyed the Harry Potter movies far more than I thought I would. I didn't see the first two in the theater, but will definitely pay to see this one. I haven't gone to the movies so much as I have in the last three years to see the three Lord of the Rings movies, and, more recently, the Passion of The Christ. I hope the trend towards more wholesome entertainment continues. Looks like this Harry Potter movie will be a good one too!

This, from a couple of folks I know at Wizards of the Coast:

Wizards of the Coast, the Hasbro subsidiary behind the Pokemon card game and Dungeons and Dragons, desired to obtain the Harry Potter role playing game license. A couple of the game designers put together a presentation and some sample bits, and flew to the UK to pitch the idea to Rowling.

They got maybe five minutes in before she said something to the effect of: "Wait, you want to make a Harry Potter Dungeons and Dragons game? But that game is occultic and evil!"

Knowing the flack she takes on the very same score, they nearly fell out of their chairs. Needless to say, they went home empty-handed (which is a shame, because these folks would have done a fantastic job with it).

Big smile :) I know what I am going to do for my birthday! Didn't know it was coming out in June, thought it would be November like the last one.

Sounds like she may be a Religious Christian... that was my impression from reading her books. Does anybody know if this is true, and what her politics are?

I think she is Christian, though what flavour and to what extent I don't know. She also leans a bit left from what I've read in interviews she's done, but she's very careful not to opine.

Her books certainly don't seem left-leaning. The whole moral behind her books seems to be to confront evil, even when others stick their heads firmly in the sand. Very relevant to our times.
Translation: She's the Winston Churchill type of brit, not the Nevill Chamberlian type.

Her sixth book seemed to have a very strong RKBA message to me.

I didn't read the 6th book yet... I'm so stubborn I wont read it until it comes out in paperback, lol. Am I supposed to know what RKBA stands for?
