Yasser Arafat to host director of "Godfather," "Apocalypse Now"

Palestinian Authority Chairman, Yasser Arafat is set to meet with Francis Ford Coppola, who directed the “Godfather” movies based on the gangster novels by Mario Puzo, the official PA news agency reported Monday.

According to the report, Coppola will visit the Palestinian Authority soon and will meet with Arafat in Ramallah. Anonymous sources close to Arafat say that it was the famous director himself who initiated the visit and has already spoken with Arafat over the phone.

Coppola, 65, has directed dozens of films including the “Godfather” trilogy that relates the saga of an Italian mafia family in America and “Apocalypse Now”, about the war in Vietnam. Coppola has won Oscars for best director, best film and best screenplay.

Disappointed in Coppola... didn't know he was yet another member of the Hollywood Left - thought he was more independent. Having said that, he better be careful visiting Arafat. His days are numbered.

Well, folks are making some strong statements on Coppola's
presumed politics, which I have no knowledge of, but if he
isn't a terrorist-worshipping liberal, perhaps he has been
given a message to deliver to Arafat, an offer Arafat can't
refuse, so to speak.

Arafat is an Islamist murderer of Americans. In my opinion, this is Treason. But it's difficult to understand how our allowing Arafat to live all this time isn't Treason either.

Hey, wouldn't Arafat and the history PLO / Palestinian Authority make a good series of gangster movies? You go from being a being the head of a terrorist organization being driven out Lebanon to the dictator of your on little psuedo-national entity.

It could even have a happy ending as Arafat's character gets blasted into a chunky spray of gore by a rocket or ATGM.

That would be good, but I figure it would be pretty much value neutral, like the Godfather movies or the Sopranos. I just want it to end like Bonny and Clyde with the scum getting riddled with bullets or splinters and his mangled corpse put on display...
