I hadn't realized this bill was introduced into Congress way before Laci and Conner were murdered.

I remember reading or hearing that Military Domestic violence had really increased and when in the Military States don't have jurisdiction over a person so that is the purpose behind this bill.

President George W. Bush has said he will enthusiastically sign this bill into law.

The law itself will make it a federal crime for an unborn baby to be harmed during a terrorist attack, shootings involving drugs, and other attacks on federal or military property.

Boy they are just clipping along aren't they? I think Varinsky is a very discerning and intelligent guy. I give Demetrius NO credit for the Simpson trial. That Jury I give credit to Johnny Cochran for. He knew he was going to play the race card and all he need was some relatively uneducated black folks. And Mostly women. Marcia Clark said she knew they had lost the case the minute she saw the Jury. Demetrius never picked that Jury. I have no idea what all her other accomplishments are tho. I have never heard that she is a trained Psychologist but that doesn't mean she isn't one.

Hi grizz. I'm sure the Zodiac killer is either dead or in prison. Nobody like him would just stop. He was having too much fun driving LE nuts and getting a lot of attention. What a sicko. I hope he is dead. However, the families of the deceased will NEVER know WHO killed their loved ones.

You guys when your reading the Larry King transcript, the part I am referring to is mainly at the end where they describe Snott P being in the Strip joint the night BEFORE he was arrested and trying to get a girl to go to Mexico with him. Remember, Laci and Connor's bodies had been found and were being identified and he's in a strip club trying to get a woman to go to Mexico with him!! That shows CONSCIOUSNESS OF GUILT and INTENT TO FLEE right there. I'm sure he was all packed the night before he was arrested. I'm also sure that the Prosecution probably has subpoened this woman for a witness.

Years ago in a Midwestern town, a man was suspected of being a serial rapist, but apparently there wasn't enough evidence to arrest him. The man was killed in a motorcycle wreck, the rapes ceased, and the case was closed.

I believe that JoEllen has a PhD in criminology or criminal justice (maybe sociology). I don't believe she is a psychologist.

I forgot this (or perhaps I never knew it). Just another example of behavior that is going to turn the collective stomachs of the jurors. At the time, the Petersons kept defending Scott by saying that "everyone grieves differently" and "there's no script for how to act when your wife is missing and presumed dead". I disagree, granted people do vary in how they respond to tragedy but his behaviors are completely absurd. Going to a bar/strip joint shortly after the remains of your wife and son wash up in the bay????

I agree with you completely Julie. Scott not only doesn't fall within the "normal" range of behaviours of losing a loved one but he doesn't even fall within the parameters of "abnormal". Absurd is the right word. Frankly, one would have thought he just won the lottery!! I am anxious to hear what this woman that he wanted to go to Mexico with him has to say. Notice how quiet the DA has been on a lot of issues. Once these terrible behaviours and lies start to pile up like cord wood AND a lot of the lies being in his OWN words, I think the Jury just may be aghast!!

Actually Spunky I just realized from your post that I COMPLETELY missed Hank's point on the Constitution. I was thinking only of this case and also did not realize that the bill was a long time in the works already containing other issues. Looks to me like the Laci and Connor issue, while I agree with it 110%, was just tacked onto the original bill.

You know it is interesting that Scott's bail hearing was postponed and then Geragos never asked to have it rescheduled. I bet they do have compelling evidence that he was about to flee (e.g., the comment to the stripper). Geragos doubtless knew it was a hopeless cause. This will be a long trial - it will take months just to present all of Scott's strange behaviors & interviews.

Can't you just hear Distaso's opening statement? Ladies and Gentlemen, then the lie upon lie, upon lie, upon absurd behaviour, etc. Then he can state, and you will be able to listen to Mr. Peterson lie over and over and over again. It's gonna be a doozy. What's Geragos gonna say? Those rotten Police, they just rushed to Judgement, they let the "real" killer(s) get away, they mishandled the evidence, they were sloppy in their investigation, and just because a man committs adultery and lies, does not make him a murderer, and we will show that baby Connor was born alive and then murdered later after Laci was ABDUCTED, and B A R F!!

You know it - they most certainly DO have more than enough evidence to show that Peterson was planning to flee. Dyed hair, eyebrows and goatee, new car in mommies name, false identification, $15,000.00 CASH, camping gear, tons of clothes, 4 cell phones, another passport application partly filled out in yet ANOTHER name, a water purifier, and he even tried to get a woman to go with him. I'm willing to bet that even if they got through this trial and got a hung Jury, that the re-filing of charges would already be ready to file and that Peterson would STILL not be eligible for bail in a retry. He's gonna be a guest of jail and then hopefully prison, for a very long time!!

It'll be great. I wish we could see it but I guess we'll have to make do with the transcripts. I hope they get a fair jury - I've been worried about that because JoEllen is very good. I'm glad the prosecution has Varinsky. They need intelligent people who can put the pieces together and who won't be taken in by Geragos' wild, highly unlikely, theories. I wonder if he can even present those theories in court. Wouldn't he need some basis in fact?
