BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Supporters of maverick Muslim cleric Moqtada al-Sadr controlled government, religious and security buildings in the holy city of Najaf early Tuesday evening, according to a coalition source in southern Iraq.
The source said al-Sadr's followers controlled the governor's office, police stations and the Imam Ali mosque, one of Shia Muslim's holiest shrines.

The instability prompted the United Nations to temporarily halt convoys bringing Iraqi refugees back from Iran in the south. Hmmm...
It is obvious to everyone, except the media, of course, that this 'uprising' has Iran as its evil source.
It would be interesting to know the ideological makeup of these 'refugees'.

My vehicle sported this bumper sticker until I traded last week. I see I'm gonna need another one.

I hope that the next time he appears anywhere, that he looks like he has come down with a sudden case of Measels from the laser sights before his entire body is liquified by snipers 50 cals. :)

Questions
1)How did we let him get away?
2)Why is he still alive?
Need help on those two. Thanks.

al-Sadr's followers controlled the governor's office, police stations and the Imam Ali mosque, one of Shia Muslim's holiest shrines.
Someone in another thread posted that Sadr was Shi'ite. If they have taken over a Shia shrine, how closely related are the Shia and Shi'ites?

"Maverick"....yes, according to my dictionary he's just " a person who takes an independent stand apart from his associates". What? You thought he was some kind of violence-insighting, radical extremist who wants to take control of the government or something?

Shia and Shi'ite are the same. Just two different ways to describe the same sect.

1)How did we let him get away? Probably the same way the others got away-- we aren't as good as the movies think we are.
2)Why is he still alive?
See answer A.

I didn't much cotton to that term either. Mavericks are generally considered heroic in general English usage. Maybe the marines ought to be taking up positions outside Treasonous News Network.

What? You thought he was some kind of violence-insighting, radical extremist who wants to take control of the government or something? Well yea .. that thought did cross my mind
I'm soooooooooo glad CNN cleared up that misunderstanding

From the website (http://www.yahoodi.com/cnnlies/) that once supplied those CNN
stickers:
The demand for CNN LIES bumperstickers has been overwhelming-
we're broke! Until we find a sponsor, we'll have to take a forced vacation. Too bad.
