My sweet wife recorded for me and I did get to see it. It was great...Rummy obviously likes Bret and opened up more than he would to anyone I can think of.

Yes they are, that still doesn't make them experts in double guessing the brave men out in the field, though, IMO.

I agree. But, having military credentials doesn't by default make any ammount of second guessing more accurate. Suffice to mention all the retired military officers in the media who went into full panic mode during the war proper last year during the sandstorm.

It is a complicated world. It is the privilege of very few, if any, to make accurate calls of a foggy and rapidly changing landscape.

It just strikes me as odd how often some people here resort to refering to people's military service records, when they express a dissenting viewpoint. Is is a preview of the Presidential campaign?

Can only people who have served two terms in congress put in their two cents on congressional politics?

That said, I think we are pretty much on the same page. I just wanted to put of a slight defense for pathetic boobs like myself who want to express their opinion :-)

God bless the brave coalition soldiers!

Have a good night.

Cheers.

Ok well you made it sound like it was the commanders on the ground were the ones opting for the "kinder/gentler" approach to these thugs.

Bret finally quit talking and just sat there with a "yeah, yeah, yeah" half-smile on his face.

O'Reilly's other, better half probably does the same thing that Bret did, just sits and says, yeah, yeah, yeah.

"Where'd you get this idea that we can conduct warfare without casualties?"

I never said that, and you know it.

I really hope you're right about the beginning of the end of the Iraqi resistance, but I have grave doubts.
We have not inflicted enough pain to make the resistance give in.

LOL!

I'm Old Corps.
Do you really think I'd doubt my Marines?

When my other, better half isn't interested in conversation and I am, she says, "OK, you talk, and I'll say the 'uh huhs'"

Here's some clarification for you.

"Karl Vick of MSNBC just reported that he was in 2 Shite cities today and the talk on the street was the Shite and Sunnis were joining together against the coalition."

Rumors spread faster in Iraq than they do on FR. Sunni's and Shiits will join together right after Croat's and Serbs do. None of the actions today involved a combined force.

"Fox News reported how we underestimated al-Sadr, saying he was just a light weight just mouth."

Believe it or not...he is. In a country of millions, it is not hard to find several thousand radical, suicidal, nutjobs. He is not accepted within the Shiite community, and looked on as we look on a drug dealer or mafia don. Yeah, he can get violent, but in the big scheme of things, he's like a loud fart in a church.

And finally, we are not relying on Chalabi for intel. We don't need to. Look, this situation was inevitable. It had to happen sometime. Frankly, the farther away from 30 June the better. This is the Iraqi equivalent of a bunch of Buchanan supporters trying to determine the Republican candidate. They're interesting, they raise a rucus, they even draw some blood...and then the Republican party selects the candidate who will win the race. I am sick for the men we lost today. There are no finer Americans than young Marines (and I'm a career Air Force guy). But Marines know their job, and they know how to get the job done. Gary Coleman has just thrown his best punch at Mohammed Ali...and he broke his fist in the process. Now he's going down. Hard.

Clarke Kennedy, now Kerry and now he's quoting a bad poll.He is so obviously biased,I wish I had watched his Kennedy or Clarke interview now.I'll just bet he had a different "tone".

NOooo I don't wish I'd watched those interviews..!I had a momentary lapse of sane thinking!

Having a few civilians killed as collateral damage is one thing, and there is no way to control that one way or the other anyway.

Creating a massive "Massacre of Fallujah" with tens of thousands of civilian dead is quite another matter. Not only would it be unwise politically, it would be *wrong*.

We are the good guys, remember? Just because our enemy would do it doesn't mean we are cleared to do it. If we are just as bad as them then we would have been all wrong about changing their government. That's not who we are. We fight for better values than that.

Look... I cry over our dead and maimed. I hate that such evil happens to such great men and women. But they are over there fighting for something important. We are making the argument that our way of life and our values are superior to those of our enemy. You can cut it up any way you like, but that's why we're there.

I really enjoyed it, too. Yes, that was my impression that Bret must be a favorite of Rummy's but it seems to be mutual, Bret is a Rumsfeld admirer.

Well, I sticking with it because of Karen, whom I really like. However, I won't be back to Larry unless he has Cheney, Rumsfeld, or Laura Bush.

everything you say is true. but we can't cut it so fine that we are afraid to use a helicopter or a tank, or enter a mosque, while taking KIA ourselves. from a media perspective, they will be harping on the civilian casualties no matter what (CBS radio is already talking about "women and children"). Its the same old formula from the left.

No problem. looking at your screen name I surmise you are in the UK or Europe, my original comments on the armchair generals here on FR was a take off on a famous TV cough syrup commercial in the States, where a TV doctor states,

"I am not a Doctor, but I play one on TV".

God bless the brave coalition soldiers!

Have a good night.

Cheers

To you also and God look over the brave soldiers in the field.
