So now that we have heard that the "grassroots" (not nearly a) Million Mom March is descending once more on Washington DC--this time more than ever to try to take away our Second Amendmend Freedoms, what are we going to do about it?
Here's one thing: SECOND AMENDMENT SISTERS WILL HOLD A S.econd .A.mendment F.reedom for E.veryone R.ally, or S.A.F.E.R, also in Washington DC, on Monday's Day.
Second Amendment Sisters is the true grassroots organization that will be in DC on Mother's Day, having been formed right here of FreeRepublic.com, in December of 1999. Five freeper women were a bit horrified when we heard of the first (not nearly a)Million March that was heading to Washington on Mother's Day, 2000. We knew these women did not speak for us, and thought that surely there were many American women for whom they did not speak.
These five women answered the call to set up a counter-rally. Getting together in cyberspace, they went to work trying to put together a rally where women who hold that Self defense is a basic human right, could get together and let their voices be heard.
With no organization, no experience, and operating capital coming mainly from freepers, (as well as the bit of the public that we managed to reach somehow,) more than 5,000 people attended that first rally
In the intervening years, those of us who volunteer in the SAS organization have worked many long, hard hours to grow our membership, and to iron out all the wrinkles in our fledgling organization. Today, we are proud to boost a membership database that contains well over 5,000 names, with more coming in daily. We are very proud of the fact that we now have many lifetime members!
Our hope for this Mother's Day is to outnumber the MMM's . We will also have members staying over on Monday to meet with both Senators and Representatives to let them know our concerns about the so-called "Assault Weapons Ban", as well as to try to make sure that they understand how important it is for a woman, especially, to be able to have the means to defend herself and her children if the need ever arises.
This is an invitation to all to join us at this rally, and let your opinion of this issue be heard. More information can be found on our website: Second Amendment Sisters. org
We are proud of the line-up of speakers we have, headed by Shemane Nugent. Our full program will be published on our website very shortly. We have Suzanna Gratia-Hupp lined up, too, but since the TX governor seems to be calling for a special session of the TX Congress, she may have to miss our rally. So many Freepers have heard her horrific story, and have such admiration for her, that it will be a real shame if she can't attend.
We're very happy that the great DC Chapter activist, Angelwood, is in charge setting up the actual rally, getting all the paperwork done, permits signed, etc etc. There's a lady who knows what she is doing, and we already owe her a debt of gratitude, Everyone can rest asssured that when Angelwood is in charge of something, it will be perfect!
So--come on out, Freepers and help swell our crowd as well as meet and greet Freepers and SASTERS from across the USA. We are really looking forward to a huge gathering of freedom loving people, and hope YOU will be among us! So grab those signs and BE THERE!
I wish I could do more than send a check- I certainly hope some of the 141,000+ members here will see, and respond.
Absolutely! Thanks for your support!
May I take this opportunity to thank all you Freepers who are going to our web site to donate their hard earned money to help us finance this rally! With support from people like you, we can't do anything but have a very successful rally.
We sure hope to see a lot of our Freeper buddies at the rally--just like old times, meeting in DC--LOL!

I take it that should have read on Mother's Day?
Just a newspaperman's proofreader habit of mine. No biggie, I think it's generally clear, but you might fix it in any updates or additional posts between now and then, especially if you cut-and-paste from this one.
Good luck with the rally. I may get to D.C. for the Rolling Thunder/Run For The Wall annual bikie/veteran's Memorial Day run, but eventhat's going to be on a borrowed bike if I can make it, so I doubt I can get there for your shindig on this short a notice. But I'll pass the word on to some pals a little closer than I am [Memphis] and to a few news folks in the DC area. They're generally sympathetic, but their bosses aren't.
