Ah, there was a time when the French were men!

I can't recall the name of the show, but IIRC, he spent some time in New York City
in a funk after the fall of the French...and before he got back into the fight.
He was a cultured warrior-aviator.

Also, he got a fair bit of coverage in a PBS 4-part special about the birth/growth of civil aviation
"Chasing The Sun". (I think that was the title)

His forced landing and recovery in Africa (flying mail service and recovery),
as well as some of his writing about his love of flght made for interesting
side-bar about the early days of civil aviation.

You're right. After France fell he came to New York City and then lived on Long Island for a year or so. It was there he wrote Le Petit Prince (and maybe Vol de Nuit). He wrote them in French and they were later translated. I think it is the town of Huntington on Long Island where he lived. They had a celebration of his life a couple of years ago.

On of my favorite parts in the book is about the fox.

"The fox fell silent and stared at the little prince for a long while. "please . . . tame me!" He said."

And finally - if you go to the above link to read the book - be aware that there are two version on that website - frames and no frames. One version has all 27 chapters, the other version only has half of them.
