Studio? What's that? I've kept all my stuff under the bed or in the closet.

I love working with clay, the textures, everything from silken smooth to a raw roughness. I wanted to go to art school but Daddy discouraged it. He said that a real artist didn't need to go to school. I gradually gave up all hopes of doing anything. Every once in a while, I pick up the brushes or the pencils or whatever and make a stab at it but my heart isn't in it.

Hi Dixie...just a quick drive by but I want to say dittos to Billie's comment about how special you are greeting everyone and keeping the thread going and what a special friend you are to the finest.

Re: your earlier comment...I've been to other churches for weddings...funerals...but never for Sunday service. Really don't know why. I understand Episcopal is the closest to Catholic. I went to a hard core African American baptist funeral once...the music was amazing....the minister was trying to get people to go up and do a "calling" or whatever. It was quite a trip for me!

Why do you think your child would have been considered illegitimate?
Annulment does not "erase" a marriage (and thus render children illegitimate). An annulment basically acknowledges a flaw in the marriage, but it doesn't mean you were never married. My 2 kids are from my first husband.

I imagine is was. My mother use to tell us stories about my aunt and cousins sitting out side of the black churches and getting "religion" through the music. I occassionally listen to the their church services on tv here in the low country and can feel their devotion through the tube. It flows from them...

I've never been to one, but have seen the documentaries on the funerals they use to hold in New Orleans. They would mourn on the way to the cemetary, but on the way back would celebrate the fact that the departed was in the arms of Jesus.

And being southern, I do love the Gospel music!

That was what I was given to understand. Father Manning (who I dearly loved) felt that divorce was a sin. The only references that I found to it in the Bible were that a man was not supposed to divorce his wife.

A friend of mine refuses to remarry to this day for that very reason. She feels that the Church would view her as an adulterer, but again I only found that in reference to man and not woman.

Father Donahue told me the same thing that you have. That it would not effect Matthew's legitimacy.

I'm thrilled for you having that this early in Washington!

We are so blessed here to not have the extreme and lingering cold, warm up until Christmas, and moderating in mid-February.

We've had our bulbs and Bradford pear trees and daffodils and snowdrops and tulips and Japanese tulip trees and forsythia - progressed to my violets blooming now, and iris about to emerge - full blooming dogwood still here, plus riots of colorful azaleas!

Nights are cool until June, and days comfortably warm, mostly in the 70's...

Thank you, Rus. There are many ways to worship our Lord, and each is highly personal.

He specifically exhorted us to make a joyful noise before Him, with singing and cymbals and stringed instruments, and in the joyous raising of our hands to Him, we express our yielding to His will for us.

He also stressed that He will "inhabit our praises!"
I, as you have, have experienced the wonderful infusing of the Holy Spirit when one worships that way...

Yes there are many ways to Worship the Lord.

I was born and raised a Catholic, was baptized,1st communion, confirmation and was married the 1st time at St Anthonys of Padua.

Since leaving the C Church I have gained so much more knowledge in the Bible, I never read it before I was divorced, I have read it almost constantly since.

Corinthians talks all about marriage, sex, and divorce.
I don't feel the need to have a middle man when I confess my sins to God.
I take it directly to the man himself.

I Love the interaction of a good Pastor, and am thrilled that we have one as our new Pastor in our one year old Church.

The first Monday of each month we Break Bread together and drink the Fruit of the vine, then stand in a circle around the church and sing
Blest be the tie that binds
our Hearts in Christian Love
the fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above..

Like you, my husband was reared Catholic, in Ohio, going to a Catholic school in grades 1 through 11 - then in the 12th (after fighting in Korea) went to a public school, and was amazed by the differences.
His first marriage in the Church when he was 21 became a tragic one, with him finally leaving the Church and Ohio. We met later in Florida, dated a year and a half, and have been married 42 years.

He said he always was in trouble growing up because he read a lot, and many books in the public library, asking in total innocence at the Catholic school about the four Popes in Europe at one time, etc..."Which one was the Infallible One?"- sent to the Mother Superior's Office over and over, or to be straightened out by the monks.

Just today we were discussing how he had never read the Bible growing up, nor even realized the Big Book on the lectern in his Church WAS "a Bible," read from in snatches, and interpreted solely by the priest or monks or sisters in school or at catechism.

In 1981, he was compelled by our Lord to read through the entire Bible, and finally undersood there "is only one mediator between him and God - His Son, Jesus Christ."

We talk with Him on a daily basis as individuals, and therein reap the benefits of a deep personal relationship.
