"Wow...I've only had one beer but I'm completely lost here. WHO IS THE MOTHER? That's one heck of a monage-a-some-number these people have going...."

I've had no liquor and I'm lost. But after reading the article..and careful thought..I found my excuse to have a drink. Cheers!

Just seeing if you realized that I'm not the one who brought this story up, and that I realize that while we shouldn't hate the sinner, we should at least express disapproval of the sin.

Lets don't be so sanctimonious about this. Marriage's fail and Neil Bush's did just that. I just read that Vanity Fair article and both of them are better off.
Neil Bush acted very well in the divorce and gave ex Sharon 75% of wht was there. Sharon on the other hand came off looking like a real money grubbing bitch and boy she liked everything free, trips. meals, homes, hotel, you name it. Neil has a wife that is probably much better suited for him and lets hope Sharon finds someone also, preferably with deep pockets.

Tell are you saying people should stay in a bad marriage no matter what? That is unrealistic and you know it.

>>Perhaps I was wrong to say he should go to Hell. But our society needs to stop being so tolerant of adultery. The breakup of the family is the one of the worst things that has happened to Western civilization in the last century.<<

Agreed but no one knows what goes on behind closed doors and while it takes two to make a marriage, it often also takes two to end one. Nothing happens in a vacuum.

Perhaps he should have ended his marriage to Sharon (who if she really spread this vile rumor about a toddler is not such sterling person either), before starting a new relationship. However, Neil Bush, like you and me, is only human and we ALL make mistakes. Perfection is the goal and few of us will get there.

>>It would be one thing if he had a one night stand or an affair with his mistress. He could repent and be forgiven.<<

He can still repent. Sharon can still forgive him. You don't need to be married for either action.

And advocating adultery but saying NO to divorce is Kerryesque IMO.

>>By divorcing his wife and remarrying while she is still alive, he is living in sin. <<

So far as I know, Neil Bush is not Catholic. Lots of people aren't and as such, don't believe as Catholics do. If you believe that, it's your perogative, but real Christians do not damn others to eternal Hell-fire. They leave that to a Higher Authority. The real point of Christianity is to hate the sin and Forgive the sinner.

>>Now I haven't followed this story very closely, but it seems to me that he has no intention of ending his relationship with his mistress. <<

That is his business, not yours. It is between him, his legal wife, his church, and God.

>>Most of us feel remorse when we have sinned.<<

"Most?" You seem fond of sweeping generalizations.

>>As far as I can tell, he doesn't care.<<

You have no way of knowing what the condition of his heart and soul is. You are judging him based on the condition of your own. Very Un-Christian, IMO.

>>Who says I don't pray for him?<<

You did when you made your Hell comment. You have displayed nothing but hatred and intolerance for a man you know nothing about on a personal level.

>>I almost always make a special intention for the conversion of sinners when I pray.<<

Good. Then you pray for yourself on a regular basis.

>>But I am sick and tired of people taking marriage lightly. Where is the outrage?<<

Your comments outraged me.

" The point is that many men who cannot make the break from a relationship they don't want to be in, find another woman. In a way this deflects the wife's rage towards the "other woman"

Also deflects societies rage -- how do men duck blame so easily?

>>Also deflects societies rage -- how do men duck blame so easily?<<

So EASILY??? Are there no property settlements? Are there no child support payments? Are there no garnishments?

Men are almost always blamed even when the wife was a shrew, was physically abusive, or cuckholding her husband.

BTW, I'm a woman who doesn't care for the feministic man-bashing games other members of my sex love to indulge themselves in. Unfortunately, many chivalrous men do the same out of a misplaced sense of gallantry for damsels, in distress or not.

I'm saying marriage should be more than just living together. It should be permanent. What does it mean to be married if the marriage can be dissolved just because one of the parties isn't satisfied? Why have marriage at all when people can just shack up and split up whenever they want?

Marriage is an outmoded institution invented by women to hold men. I happen to believe that those who chose to live together are in a more committed situation than those who marry. I just can't get all that worked up about Neil Bush and his wife getting a divorce. If he weren't in such a high profile family I doubt you would be concerned. Marriage in this day and age is a very iffy proposition.

People who just start living together aren't commited at all. They can leave whenever they want. I don't know how children are supposed to have stable homes when their parents are allowed to come and go as they please, switching spouses as soon as they're bored. I dislike (not hate) all adulterers (or at least their adultery), not just famous ones.

I can't remember who said it but, "..the last refuge of despair for a man is another womans arms.." The point is that many men who cannot make the break from a relationship they don't want to be in, find another woman. In a way this deflects the wife's rage toward the "other woman" and also give themselves a reason for leaving. Not an excuse, but really what people do in real life without really understanding what they are doing and why. In addition, sometimes people marry for the wrong reasons or when they are so immature and insecure they really slip into a relationship with little or no thought as to why and to whom they are marrying. In times past, most died before 50, but now we live much longer; hence, marriages sometimes end when life used to end.

So very true. I am glad you posted these thoughts. In the not very distant past I went through something very similar and my first reaction was to hate "the other woman". When I woke up and smelled the coffee I realized she was not the one who had lied and betrayed me. They are married now and I am very happy to report are both totally miserable. It's nice to see people get what's coming to them. Instant justice is a rare thing to witness. Over all my life is better without him but I wish to heck he had just address the situation directly. It's the lies that do the long term damage, not the breakup.

Here's my understanding: Case involves two formerly married couples:

1. Neil & Sharon

2. Maria & Robert, who have the child.

Neil and Maria have affair. Both couples get divorced. Neil and Maria get married. Sharon has claimed Neil fathered this child during the affair. Robert is understandably angry... I guess infidelity and divorce is bad enough, but then to question legitimacy of his child is beyond the pale... one thing to show his wife cheated on him, but another thing to try to deprive him of his child. I don't blame him for striking back and hard. Looks like Sharon was willing to sling mud on the child's legitimacy just to make her ex-husband look bad. A true cheap shot.

Thanks for the summary. I didn't realize there were two married couples involved. What a soap opera!

It also doesn't justify him making trips to Asia and having these Asian women just come up to his door and having sex with them. That was all while he was still married-who knows if this was going on while he was carrying on with this Maria Andrews, who he just married now. He's messed up morally and should've gotten a divorce a long time ago rather than committing numerous adulteries.

I don't see you as hating the President just because you comment on his brothers disgusting morals. It's funny how this is a topic of discussion in the first place and people joined in on reading and replying to this thread. Neil is the one who is not living up to his family values.

Of course the only solution as far as the children are concerned is that they must be taken and raised in an antispetic envionment by the State and have no parents.
