Philadelphia lost more people than any other county in the nation in the three years after the most recent census, according to population estimates released (April 9.)
The loss of an estimated 38,211 Philadelphians left the city with about 1,479,339 residents as of July 2003, the Census Bureau said.
But the continuing slide came at a slower rate than in the worst years during the 1970s, when the population dipped by 13 percent.

Cities tend to reach a size and stay there. The region grows and grows.

Cities tend to reach a size and stay there. Philly has lost half a million since 1950.

Philadelphia:
50 years of total democrat rule
Highest wage tax in the nation
Terrible schools despite huge amounts of money
Anti-Second Amendment leadership
Out of control car insurance rates
Union thugs run city hall
Why would anyone in their right mind want to move there?

Could the census numbers in the city of brotherly love have been slightly "inflated?"

So much for the "brothers being in charge" as Mayor John Street declared in 2002.

Philly really could be a great city (sigh) Not while the RATs keep getting elected. Actually, overall Philly is dump, and if it was located in the middle of Pennsylvania, as opposed to being located within commuting distance of many NJ suburb communities, Philly would be an absolute hell hole.

I like your list, just want to "prioritize" it:
Philadelphia:
- Union thugs run city hall
- 50 years of total democrat rule
- Terrible schools despite huge amounts of money
- Highest wage tax in the nation
- Anti-Second Amendment leadership
- Out of control car insurance rates

Here's the spin from today's edition of the Philadelphia Inquirer:
"City loses people, but at a slower pace"
Gee.....the Mayor must be bursting with pride. Maybe if they got rid of that killer City Wage Tax, and stopped bowing down to the union thugs, Philadelphia would start to attract more businesses, and consequently, more people would move to the city.

Actually, Philly has a lot going for it. What it's cursed with is corrupt government.

For some reason, I don't think that's going to mean much for voter turnout...

Why would anyone in their right mind want to move there? Nobody with an ounce of brains would want to move there. Its a hole that keeps getting deeper. Also, don't forget all the doctors leaving the state because medical malpractice insurance is through the roof.

This Is Great News!!!!!
This is Pennsylvania's Electoral Votes being more decided outside a city than inside it. If 38K people left, what is that . . . 20K Kerry voters now elsewhere? Perhaps they moved to Georgia or Alabama where we have a big lead.
