Saturday Night Live Spoofs Condi Rice Testimony

Posted on 04/10/2004 8:52:52 PM PDT by myprecious

Janet Jackson spoofs Condi Rice by flashing at the 9/11 hearing on Saturday Night Live.

Chaney was helping her prep for the interrogation, but tells her to "flash her headlight" to distract if things got tough.

I saw it and it was not very funny. In fact, SNL would never make fun of a liberal black woman like they did Coni. If they ever made fun of Maxine Waters like that with her facial expressions they would have the Congressional Black Cacus all over them. I'm waiting to see what they do on the news segment.

In order to make fun of Slappsy Maxie's facial expressions, you'd have to have some wrinkly old man drop trousers, moon the tv and spread his butt cheeks.

They really had to struggle to find a mean way to caricature such a smart and beautiful woman. The fake teeth would be blasted if used to mock a liberal black.

Janet Jackson has never been so close to class in her life, but fell back on her own low life antics. Sad....

The opening monologue is all I am willing to waste on SNL. Report back in if anything important happens.

FReepers, come on, lighten up. Janet Jackson was funny in that spoof! I didn't think it was demeaning at all. Look at this way - Condi is getting more name recognition. A lot of black people actually like her and don't consider her a "sell-out."

I hope you are right. They did manage to include several of her credentials - provost, concert pianist - in the skit.

I just didn't like Janet Jackson trying to work her way back into the public on a real lady's reputation.

Everyone's mad at Janet over the Super Bowl thing. She publicly apologized for it, why can't people move on?

If it had been Madonna who bared a breast people wouldn't have batted an eye because everyone knows what Madonna is like. People just wanted to diss Janet because of what her pedophile brother Michael is going through.

Yep all they could do on the news was try to make it look like Bush was too dumb to read the memo Condi was presenting to him. Never mind the fact he requested it and was on top of terrorism a hundred times more than the toon. Truly pathetic.

Have to disagree with you on that. The reason people are dissing Janet is because the Super Bowl is supposed to be entertainment for the entire family. If Madonna had done it the outrage would have been the same. The time and place of her actions are the reason for the outrage. Had she done it on SNL or MTV there wouldn't be much anger about it.

I would add that it's lame 8th grade humor. Some 8th grade humor was funny to us at one time, this stuff just falls flat. The dross they're cranking out now is only funny to the writers and liberal morons.

Not really, it was one of those Hollywood half-step apologies, "I'm sorry if you were offended." It puts the burden on someone else. As if it's a problem with you, not her.

If it had been Madonna who bared a breast people wouldn't have batted an eye because everyone knows what Madonna is like.

I would have wanted OSHA to fine her for creating a tripping hazard in the workplace.

"God, doesn't Tina Fey think she's cute. ...Now I know why I don't watch Saturday night, they have no talent so all they can do is bash Bush."

Week after week Tina Fey practically begs the audience to laugh at herlame excuses for jokes.

SNL is clearly in shambles and desperate for an overhaul.

One of their writers is still telling 8th grade jokes on the radio --- Al Franken.

I'm watching Janet Jacksons second "song". It's amazingly bad. Dumb.

I'd rather see Condi Rice just sit there and talk. That's a real woman!

I would disagree.

First, Madonna's Spears-moment generated equal backlash, but since she's "over" it hurt Spears more than her.

Janet's been eclipsed by several younger performers. She's just trying to generate some publicity.

Did you watch her second musical number on SNL? Pathetic...

There was a day when Jacksons actually did vocals. Decadent dance troupes with dudes in corsets....sheesh.

What a waste.

It's like 4th grade comedy at best.

My inner 4th grader did get a chuckle out of the 'cork soaker' sketch. (I kept expecting JJ to lose it)

I thought last weeks show with Trump was one of the best ones I had seen in years. Tonight's was lame at best.

It seems to be perfectly okay to use racism in service of Democrat party objectives. I mean what do Condi Rice and Janet Jackson remotely have in common other than that they are both are Black Americans? One has an triple the IQ of the other, among other obvious differences of education, profession and culture. NBC and SNL are really disgusting.

People have to separate a funny performance with their political favorites. I thought it was a SCREAM. I was impressed with Jackson, who was in fact a great mimick and a great comedienne. I did NOT turn it on expecting to like her at all. The Cheney impression was GREAT. Remember the GREAT Capitol Steps; you can find them online and must listen to their CDS. They blast Republicans and Democrats and do well doing corporate events. But the thing about them is: they started as Republican staffers in Congress and performed at Ken Starr's parties. Yet, they hit all sides and everyone loves them. A funny bit is a funny bit. People MUST lighten up in this country.

Of course I do and what ever happened to them? I'm not surprised at their provenance. I became a Republican when I realized the left was incapable of intentional laughs. Something analogous with the French and British.

With all due respect, Janet jackson was dissed for a couple valid reasons.

1 - This was family time - MTV antics are not needed or appreciated. MTV has 24+ hours where they can replace the idea of love with just sex, infidelity, narcissism etc.

2 - Janet (and Justin) insulted the public's intelligence by stating that it was an accident. Timberlake was singing how she will be naked at the end of the song. Plus their stories didn't jive.

3 - We conservatives are always being told that we are not tolerant of women's rights (as defined by them) and yet not a peep out of them in regards to the degragation/control theme of the song.

4 - The bottomline is this was a publicity stunt to boost her sagging profile and get free publicity for her new album. She should be happy it was a controversy judging by her placement in the charts at the moment.

PS - This didn't help her brother in any way - just added to the public's valid assessment of the Jackson family as publicity-at-any-cost junkies.

I think we're all just a little sensitive with all the lib media "Big guns" going after Dr. Rice. Also the double standard where we know they wouldn't attempt to ridicule a lib under the same circumstances. After a performance worthy of high praise, people just feel like hitting someone when libs poke fun at someone who excelled at whupping them, but good.

I don't usually watch SNL any more, too many gay skits that just annoy me. Humor has to hit close to home and I can't relate. I watch Mad TV, they fry pretty much everybody, and it's funny.

If they really wanted to be edgy, they would spoof the ringleaders of the "9/11 Families" that seem to drag the media around by the ... hair. Imagine a newscast where the weather report, sports scores, market report, etc., were reported, then we turn to the "9/11 Families" to comment on every item.

But it is easier to make fun of black conservatives and pretend you are doing something new.
