RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Saudi security forces and wanted militants exchanged gunfire Monday in Riyadh, the capital, officials and witnesses said.
Smoke was seen rising from Riyadh's eastern suburbs where the shootout began during the afternoon, security officials told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Large numbers of police cordoned off the area and ambulances went to the scene, the witnesses said.
There was no immediate word of any casualties, and it was not yet clear who the militants were or for what they were being sought.
Saudi authorities have released a list of the 26 most-wanted terrorists after a series of bombings in Riyadh on May 12, 2003, that killed 26 people.
The fighting, which continued into the night Monday, was the second round in two weeks. A wanted militant was killed in a shootout last week and a companion was wounded.

Hopefully we'll be hearing about more dead terrorists - uh, excuse me, of course I meant to say "militants" - here very shortly.

Saudis and militants clashing? Was one group wearing stripes and the other group wearing plaid?

I can actually accept the words "insurgents" or "militants" if those described are attacking armed military forces/infrastructures.
I cannot and will not tolerate such a pathetic description for the evil cowards who detonate bombs in day care centers, religious centers and buses/trains.

If it's news from Saudi Arabia...I'll believe it when they request US forces to come over and help them.
