You are entitled to your opinion, heck in the USA we all have the right to free speech. I personally support Gay Marriage, and not even just civil unions, full gay marriage. Although the polls may show recently that most people do not want to have marriage rights for gays, the issue is divided along generational lines. The younger generation in fact overwhelmingly supports gay rights, including gay marriage. To them it is no big deal.

I am the mother of 2 gay children. My daughter has a wonderful partner, she is a teacher and her partner is a physician and they are having a wedding next Easter. It is a shame that their commitment to each other will be ceremonial and not legally biding. I guess I just don't understand why everyone is so interested in what goes on in other people's bedrooms. Live and let live. It's not for me, and obviously not for you either, however I assure you they are a very nice couple and contribute a lot to their community. They just want to be left alone basically. They want what everyone wants, a life partner, a happy family, children. They jsut happen to want it with the same sex. I don't see how that is a threat to anyone.

I feel sorry for you.

No grandchildren, and your daughter in such a self-destructive lifestyle.

My daughter is "gay" too but I am unalterably opposed to her pursuing it as well as her marrying another woman. I pray for healing for her each day, and these yoyos aren't making it easy for those of us who aren't willing to give our kids up to the gay culture.

"They want what everyone wants, a life partner, a happy family, children. They jsut happen to want it with the same sex. I don't see how that is a threat to anyone."

And they have the same ability as everyone else to want and have these things. IMO, it's not the 90% of homosexuals that are just regular people that are the problem. It's the 10% (and my percentages are off the top of my head) of the homosexual leaders/activists/socialists/communists that want to redefine a basic American/Judeo/Christian value. This will affect ALL of American society, in the long run. It's not about a threat to just your marriage, or mine. It's just another step in the undermining of our cultural values. I also believe that 90% of the homosexuals CHOOSE this behavior/lifestyle, and I believe it's abberrant behavior. Not good for society (AIDS). I certainly believe that everyone has a right to choose what life they want to live, and not be persecuted for it, (unless it's against the law), but they go tooo far in demanding recognition, forced acceptance and redefining our values. They can have legally binding contracts (power of attorney, wills, etc.) to get alot of the benefits they require. One of the reasons your 2 children have become homosexual, is BECAUSE it's become easier to choose this lifestyle. Why should we who believe that it is not in the best interest of our society make it easier for people to choose this lifestyle? Persecute them....NO. Approve and make it easier.....Also NO! Just my take on all this. :)

Indeed we are all entitled to our opinion, yet the facts on homosexuality support one opinion and not the other.

Perhaps with some homosexuals, engaging in homosexuality is a choice they make to rebel as we see with freeper Chani.

The more science studies homosexuality, the more we see the major factor determining homosexuality is environment. That's not a bold statement, it's what science continues to report. We should heed the words of John Adams when he said:

"Facts are stubborn things, and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence."
As two of the three little pigs learned, we must build our house out of something solid. This was an important teaching of Jesus as well. He said it is foolish to build your house on sand, or to build your core position on something that is easily washed away. Instead, we should build our position on something solid, something which stands firm under scrutiny.

In regards to homosexuality and genetics, the work of homosexual activist Dr. Simon Levay has often been used to support the idea that homosexuality is genetic, and his work is still quoted to this day. But what did Levay really find? Here is what Levay said of his own work:

"It's important to stress what I didn't find. I did not prove that homosexuality is genetic, or find a genetic cause for being gay. I didn't show that gay men are born that way, the most common mistake people make in interpreting my work. Nor did I locate a gay center in the brain."
In 1973 the APA (American Psychiatric Association) declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. According to Levay, it wasn't science that propelled the APAs change, he said "Gay activism was clearly the force that propelled the APA to declassify homosexuality."

Dr. Robert L. Spitzer played a pivotal role in the above 1973 decision made by the APA. Spitzer used to believe homosexuals couldn't change but after studying the results of therapy he now believes homosexuals can change:

"I thought that homosexual behavior could be resisted--but that no one could really change their sexual orientation. I now believe that's untrue--some people can and do change."

Spitzer concluded with:

"the mental health professionals should stop moving in the direction of banning therapy that has, as a goal, a change in sexual orientation. Many patients, provided with informed consent about the possibility that they will be disappointed if the therapy does not succeed, can make a rational choice to work toward developing their heterosexual potential and minimizing their unwanted homosexual attractions."
I hope that helps.

I'm glad you're able to put politics aside and love your daughter no matter what. I had to go through something similar with my best friend. In high school, I was a liberal but also, I'm ashamed to say, somewhat prejudiced against gays. Then my best friend came out as both gay and conservative. He didn't try to convert me to his lifestyle, but he did successfuly convert me to Limbaugh.

2 sexual dysfunctionals in one house? Even a herd of wild animals wouldn't put up with that type of behavior! You do have one seriously screwed up family there.
Did you know homosexuals were kept in insane asylums until 1973 because they were considered by the medical profession to be a danger to society? They were still considered sexually insane until 1980, but then the Marxist saw them as useful idiots for their cause. They let them out.
Today, we're stuck paying millions to clean up their vile diseases because of it.
You should be proud of yourself for the abominations you've created - NOT! (Shame on you! You're a dishonor to all mothers! Where were you when your children really needed you?)

If Gays "just want to be left alone" why do they attack the Boy Scouts, Church, Schools, Marriage?

The younger generation in fact overwhelmingly supports gay rights, including gay marriage. To them it is no big deal.

That's called miseducation, and it's been perpetrated with great and malicious forethought by the NEA, gay political and legal NGO's, PFLAG, GLSEN, and their media allies for 20 years now -- vociferously and (in the press) one-sidedly for the last 10. There has never been an honest and impartial discussion of homosexuality and its ramifications in American print media in the last 25 years, and I've been watching and paying attention. Gay teachers have been propagandizing students since I was in high school, 40 years ago -- at first, surreptitiously and without school support, and now openly, and with the weight of the liberal education bureaucracy and the NEA behind them. It is a conspiracy, and its participants are doing objective evil.
