In politics, it is known as the burn rate the speed at which a campaign spends the money it has raised. The Hardball ad watch team estimates that the Bush campaign has already spent nearly half of its pre-convention advertising budget.
With the polls showing the president even or slightly behind John Kerry, it means that the Bush campaign's huge financial advantage has now all but disappeared.

"Hardball", Chris Matthews has gone in to the "ART BELL of television" mode. He has completely lost his, every loving, mind.
President Bush can get any amount of campaign cash that he wants, at any time. All he has to do is ask.

When Matthews was hawking his book a few years back,
he claimed he voted for Bush.
Yeah right.
I had heard him state several times on C-SPAN
that he always votes a straight democrat ticket.

By comparison, John Kerry has spent about $10 million. Why should he spend money when the media is doing the campaign advertising for him?

Chris has a major problem, in his own family, over President Bush. His own brother, in his state, is a top campaign adviser, contributor and supporter of President Bush. That must be driving Chris up a wall.

If by the convention, his advertising hasn't made a difference, then he'll be on an equal footing with Kerry-- since both are taking matching funds for the general election.

Does that mean that Laura Bush can mortgage their home and give it to President Bush for campaign ads?
