Bob Woodward's new book, "Shadow: Five Presidents and the Legacy of Watergate," contains material that has given rise to new charges that revive old memories of how "Mortuary Bob" has relied on lies, fabricated stories and other ethical violations to produce the bestsellers that have made him rich. Mr. Woodward is famous for his ability to come up with what he presents as verbatim accounts of confidential one-on-one conversations. "Shadow" contains many of these.

Of course 60 Minutes will be interviewing Bob on Sunday 4/18. CBS plans to place a 'disclaimer' stating Bob's book is a VIACOMSIMON&SCHUSTER product. Vis, "they have a financial interest in it's doing well.

Funny thing is... all these anti-Bush books that are coming out, one right after another, are starting to look like one long joke on Kerry. It's so pathetically obvious that their releases are aimed at November, that their only customers are Dems... and that clearly is not their goal. They'd much rather gain new voters. I don't think it's happening.

About as believable as "Roots".

Bob Woodward, the inventor of "fictional reporting." As in "deep throat" ... as in death bed interview of former CIA Director William Casey ... as a correspondent with the "Washington Post" for over 30 years ... yeah, wayward Woodward is believable.

"verbatim accounts of confidential one-on-one conversations"
I tried to read one of ole Bob's books a few years back which was filled with these.
I found it corny. I can't believe someone would take this kind of writing seriously.

What a great read...I never knew that.

The question is should not be "can Woodward can be trusted" it should be "who can be trusted?" Answer - no one in government and probably no one in D.C., period. Some may be more honest than others but never trust anyone - verify everything.

NBC Nightly News tonight, was a perfect example of how the media has lost touch with reality.
Brokaw treated Woodward's words as if they were written on a tablet of stone, unassailable and gospel.
Brokaw calls Woodward's charges-new " allegations " against the White House.
Brokaw infers the credibility of a world leader and statesman on Woodward- who is really, just a guy who wrote a book.
The best part, was when Brokaw showed a clip of Colin Powell disputing the " allegations " and quotes attributed to him.
Colin Powell saying " it never happened," was not good enough for NBC.
The next clip showed Andrea Mitchell interviewing Woodward.
Woodward and Andrea basically came to the surreal conclusion that Powell didn't know what he was talking about, only Woodward did.
Powell was there, Woodward was not-but,only Woodward is to be believed.

I saw Bob interviewed. What a frumpy little liar he is.

Any friend of Jimmy Carter's cannot be trusted.
Woodward's been carrying water for various 'others' for a long time.
