Which enterprising investigative journal or media outlet is going after this?

The links Iraq had to AQ are so numerous, I gave up when my file on the matter reached a saturation point.

That the administration hasn't pointed this out at every opportunity is a disappointment and strategic mistake, imo.

Right. If this is true why isn't Fox News Channel broadcasting this?

Why is that? Why doesn't the admin do a better job of telling it like it is? I'm a news junky, I know. And I know that most folks don't have the time or interest to absorb it all but... you'd think the admin would know this and just saturate the media with it.

Maybe the
"National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (also known as the 9-11 Commission), an independent, bipartisan commission"
will outline the connections between Al Qaeda and Iraq.

I would guess that they have the authority to investigate the Iraq al Qaeda connection .

This is a great column which I will print up, in hopes members of my family will read it.

And, on top of that, the column answers a question I had.

A nearby Delta Gas station has one of those portable sign boards that allows you to change the message, by changing the letters.

In the weeks surrounding the beginning of the Iraq War, the sign had various "peace" messages, like "War is not the Answer."

In other words, Saddam did pretty much what he wanted

Not only did Iraq export oil under the Oil for Food program, it smuggled out oil, too.

As I read this, I remembered that many world leaders said "UN sanctions are working" or "containment of Iraq is working"....

Unseaworthy ships : Sanctions-busting vessels threaten life and environment

By Joanna Langley and Nissar Hoath | 28-04-2001[excerpt]

Municipality workers faced a daunting task to clean up the leaked oil from the Zainab. The oil which earlier this month threatened the UAE's worst environmental catastrophe in recent years was almost certainly Iraqi. It leaked from the Zainab, an Iraqi-owned cargo vessel which had been converted to carry fuel oil.

The Zainab, which may have been sunk deliberately 32 kilometres north of Jebel Ali, was just one of dozens of vessels involved in smuggling Iraqi oil in defiance of the sanctions imposed on Saddam Hussein's regime since the Gulf War.[snip]

The ship was part of a trade which not only breaks the UN sanctions, but compromises the Gulf's environment both on- and off-shore, along with the lives of hundreds of crew members who are often forced to work without pay and in appaling conditions.[snip]

All sanction-busting vessels brought to the UAE are auctioned under a federal law. The local authorities also auction the smuggled oil, the proceeds of which go to the United Nations.[snip]

According to Commander Jeff Gradeck, spokesman for the Bahrain-based U.S. Maritime Force, they intercepted 82 vessels smuggling Iraq oil last year compared to 19 in 1999, a sharp increase of over 300 per cent.

Don't jump the gun.

I caught a comment by John Loftus on videotape yesterday morning (Sunday). I'll try and rewind the tape, transcribe it, and then ping you to it when I get time. He said something to the effect that as soon as the handover happens in Iraq at the end of June, it will be *the Iraqi government, itself* which will initiate all sorts of *inquiries*.

Of course, I'm sure that we will offer them our "help" as they develop the evidence against Saddam (and in the process nail all those who were involved with him).

If you want to know who was involved - just watch and see who is most hysterical in their efforts to convince us that we shouldn't turn over governmental authority to Iraq: because they aren't ready "just yet". "Who will we turn it over to?" is one of the hysterical cries.

We aren't leaving Iraq militarily - we will just be leaving the governmental decision-making up to Iraq.

The Left in this country (and around the world) is quaking in their boots. They see the handwriting on the wall and are aiding and abetting the terrorist effort in Iraq right now - every way they can - in hopes of preventing President Bush from going through with the handover.

But will they investigate the Iraq/AQ connections? Will they publish what they find or sweep it all under the rug?

When George W. Bush sends James Baker to see somebody, it can't be good for them.

You don't want a meeting with James Baker to end with him saying:

"If you'll excuse I'll need the car to take me to the airport right away. President Bush wants to recieve bad news right away."

You mean we're now learning that the U.N. isn't pure, wholesome, unadulterated, and doesn't have the best interests of the U.S. in mind?

I'm shocked!

I give the U.N. about another 18 months before it crumbles or becomes a laughing stock.

I think that the NYT, which is currently hinting that the Bush administration isn't doing enough to uncover this scandal, is going to jump right into that briar patch. I wouldn't be surprised to find Friends of Bill implicated.

I remember hillary saying they wouldn't be ready, and I wondered why. She said this a couple of months ago, I believe.
