good guess.
this may be considered PART of a series of attacks on Jordan, by syria via their proxywar terrorist infiltrators, that were to occur while the king was out of the country with our president.
all the more reason for him to get back home and keep an eye on developments for the next 48 hours or so.
the feeling is, this was probably tip of the iceberg.
Jordan is at relative peace with israel.
Jordan trades with israel.
Jordan gets water from israel.
Jordan does coordinate some security issues with Israel.]
Jordan also acknowledges Israel's right to exist... etc.
no wonder syria wants Jordan destabilized.
Israel will not take lightly a threat against one of the few arab nations that want peace with them, and have worked towards it faithfully.
Syria is due for a bombing run.
So is Iran.

The pot's about to boil over it seems.
I've been aware of all the reasons you posted, but never listed them all together like that.
Quite an impressive list of reasons to make Jordan a target.
Israel seems to have an itchy trigger finger now too. I bet they would be more than happy to take care of a few folks residing in Syria.
They've been winning at the game of Whack-a-Mullah lately
:)

Syria needs to get out of Lebaon, and they may need a little help there.
