True. But only the tabloids go to this length to show A PARTICULAR PERSON dying. Tabloids want to get shots of Frank Sinatra on his deathbed ... John Lennon at the crematoriam, Michael Landon being wheeled out to the hearse. Diana is in this catagory. Yes, we see it in the tabloids, but not usually on the major stations.

I see it as another sign of the change in the media ... wrought mostly my the internet which will surely have the stills immediately.

But getting her dying image is not on par with the 9-11 carnage, war photos, OKC et al.

There was no reason to show her dying. NONE. The event was the crash and what lead up to it, not the death itself.

The other events are of a different character, the event WAS the death itself. Diane's moment of death is not iconic like JFK or 9-11, and it's not instructive or episodic like the Rwanda, the OKC and 9-11 recoveries, etc.

During the moments of Diane actually dying, her life was already over. It was neither instructive or particularly newsworthy that she was gone, showing her in the ACT of dying has no value. It was a disgusting, opportunistic, desperate grab for raw ratings.
