Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry said yesterday that "truth is on the line" in his campaign to unseat President Bush, as he proposed a "Contract with the Middle Class" to cut their taxes and restrain government spending.
Also yesterday, Mr. Kerry's personal doctor said the senator still has a piece of shrapnel in his left thigh from the wound that earned him the second of his three Purple Hearts during his time in the Navy in Vietnam.

Flip flopping before the fact.
And he's going to start off with a policy he PLAGARIZED from us?
He's right; it is about truth.
And he is WAY behind.
George Bush: 89
John F'n Kerry: minus 430
That discussion is over here:
When pressed about a Chevrolet Suburban, the mother of all SUVs, kept at the Heinz Kerry abode in Idaho, Kerry said: ``The family has it. I don't have it.''
And that's without mentioning the other gas-guzzlers this candidate and his family enjoy, all the while posturing about reducing the nation's dependence on foreign oil and fuel efficiency.
At last count, there were eight ``family'' cars and SUVs, including the 1995 Suburban a 1993 Land Rover Defender, a 1989 Jeep Cherokee, a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 2001 Audi Allroad, a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, a 1985 Dodge 600 Convertible, and a 2002 Chrysler 300M. Kerry, however, only owns up to the latter two.
Then there's the 2002 Harley Davidson (his), two powerboats (one his, one hers), a power inflatable 2001 Novurania (his), and a Gulfstream II private jet (hers).
President Kerry would have to open his own pipeline in Saudi Arabia just to meet family fuel demand.
Yeah. This campaign will be a "test of truth", alrighty.
Yeah, right. What's wrong Mr Kerry Heinz, needing to spin to get a little sympathy from all those who realize the truth about the military records you released? How 'bout you release some proof you have shrapnel, especially in light of the fact you missed two days total from duty for all the 'wounds' you received purple hearts for.

The shrapnel still in the thigh sounds odd. Granted, most of my medical knowledge is from TV, but while I've heard of doctors leaving in, say, a bullet that lodged in or near the brain or heart because it would be too dangerous to try to remove it when it didn't seem to be interfering seriously with organ function, but -- the THIGH???
" Mr. Kerry said this election is the most important "of our lifetime."
"I think truth is on the line in this election: the truth that a president shares with the American people, the truth of how we go to war, the truth of choices about our lives, the truth of how we improve our lives and deal with the issues facing our citizens," he said.
"If you don't believe that this election is the most important in our lifetime, then all you have to do is look at the stories about the millions of middle-class families in our country who are struggling to get ahead unlike at any time in the recent modern history of our economy."
J-FK speaks the truth, all right. And he keeps the company of some very HONEST people - FULL of integrity . .
"On the April 18 Meet the Press, Tim Russert played a clip from Kerrys April 18, 1971 appearance on the show. Kerry had asserted:
- There are all kinds of atrocities and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free-fire zones."
- "I conducted harassment and interdiction fire."
- "I used 50-caliber machine guns which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people."
- "I took part in search-and-destroy missions, in the burning of villages."
- "All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare."
- "All of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down."
- "And I believe that the men who designed these, the men who designed the free-fire zone, the men who ordered us, the men who signed off the air raid strike areas, I think these men, by the letter of the law, the same letter of the law that tried Lieutenant Calley, are war criminals.
As an antiwar leader, John Kerry was arrested with hundreds of others after protesting on the green in Lexington, Mass., on May 31, 1971. The Nixon White House identified Kerry as the movement's most effective spokesman.
The 35 pages also were made available yesterday for 30 minutes to reporters who are traveling every day with Mr. Kerry.
This is called full disclosure and getting out the truth.
How do you carry shrapnel that only caused bruising? Is it attached with superglue?
