Yeah, great book, "Topaz" - it's the story of how we used human intel to confirm the Cuban missle crisis. They also made it into a movie. The book was better. This story was a prelude to the actual "crisis" wherein Kennedy initiated the blockade and went to the UN and showed the world the pictures of the missle silos.
