I firmly believe that if the "Oil for Food" scandal is investigated to its complete conclusion, it will reveal that the UN weapons inspections were also compromised by payoffs. That's a big if, Lando. Right now the UN is in obfuscate mode, and there doesn't seem to be any mechanism to force them to open the books. I hope I'm wrong, but right now my money is on Kofi and his thugs keeping a lid on it.

...there doesn't seem to be any mechanism to force them to open the books...There isn't. Although the individual ambassadors and their staffs answer to the laws of their respective countries, as a body, the UN is outside the reach of any nation's laws. The oil-for-food scam is a terrific object lesson in the dangers inherent in a world government. As conservatives, we should be just pounding our elected officials and demanding answers.

Getting the UN to cooperate is going to be like pushing a rope. Hopefully, the US public will realize how totally useless and corrupt the UN really is.
