Kerry Just Can’t Get it Right

Something to Yak About: Kerry Just Can’t Get it Right
Presumptive Democrat presidential nominee John Kerry found himself cornered Monday morning during an appearance on network TV. When asked by ABC’s Charlie Gibson about discrepancies in Kerry’s own public statements about what he did with his Vietnam medals, the Gentleman from Massachusetts went into Full Smear Mode against President Bush. Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie quickly responded by reminding Americans, “The problem is not what John Kerry did or didn’t do 30 years ago, it’s what he’s saying today, which once again turns out to be wrong.”

Changing the Subject to Anything Else?
During his appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America Monday, John Kerry either refused or was just unable to reconcile the differences in a variety of statements Kerry’s made over the years regarding what he did with his military decorations in 1971 while leading the militant anti-war group Vietnam Veterans Against the War. The result: John Kerry starts slinging mud at the president, all because some reporters asked some pointed questions. Any chance that the Kerry campaign is so freaked out over the different things the candidate has said to different journalists at different times they’re doing anything to deflect attention away from Kerry’s most recently exposed flip-floppery? You make the call!

Gillespie Readies for Conference Call
This latest attack has prompted RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie to host a conference call with reporters and broadcasters at 1:45 p.m. EDT Monday to address the Democrat's false attacks. The call-in number for the conference call is 1-800-857-5128 and the passcode is ‘Gillespie.’ It’s on the record, but not for live broadcast, okay? Okay.

His affiliation with 77 WABC Radio dates back over 20 years when Steve began his broadcasting career as a sports talk-show host and a sports reporter.” (SOURCE: WABC Radio)

The Final Yak
“I’m here personally to express my anger as a veteran that a president who would stand before this nation in his inaugural address and promise to put Vietnam behind us is now breaking yet another promise and trying to use Vietnam and service in order to get himself reelected. That is not an act of leadership. That is an act of shame and cowardice.” (John Kerry on CNN’s “Crossfire,” 9/15/92)
