'New Sharia law' in Nigeria state (all "unauthorised" places of worship will be shut down...)

'New Sharia law' in Nigeria state

The northern Nigerian state of Zamfara has introduced a new package of Islamic, or Sharia, laws.

All businesses in the state will have to shut down during the five daily Muslim prayers.

The state government also says that all "unauthorised" places of worship will be shut down under "Sharia phase two".

Zamfara was the first Nigerian state to introduce strict Sharia laws in 2000 and thousands turned out to welcome the new measures on Wednesday.

Death sentences

The BBC's Yusuf Sarki Muhammad in the state capital, Gusau, says it is not clear whether churches will be targeted for closure under the new measures.

He says there are many unauthorised places of worship in Zamfara, as elsewhere in Nigeria.

Most other states in the predominantly Muslim northern Nigeria followed Zamfara by introducing Sharia laws.

Thieves have had their hands amputated and several women have been sentenced to death by stoning for having extra-marital sex.

But no death sentences have yet been carried out.

The new laws led to clashes between Christians and Muslims, in which thousands of people died.

"The new laws led to clashes between Christians and Muslims, in which thousands of people died."

That happens when petty tyrants rule and it's a trademark condition of the religion of pieces.

So they are down to 4 SSBNs as their sole strategic nukes. Methinks we have enough fast attack subs to handle that threat. As for tactical nukes, the Charles de Gaulle barely floats on a good day. Their air force might be a threat in that only one has to get through to cause problems. I don't know their range and refueling capacities. Boston might be at risk it it weren't HQ for Chirac's favorite American.

The real problem for the world with these zealots is polio. The eradication campaign was nearing completion. We had the world's total polio cases under 1k last year with only 6 countries still affected. Five were cooperating and making progress as was most of Nigeria. But the dangerous idiots in the Muslim north of Nigeria were refusing vaccination, claiming the vaccine was contaminated. I'm not sure with what, pork for all I know. In spite of reassurances from Muslim authorities in other countries they continue to resist vaccination and the disease is again spreading there and into neighboring countries. As tempting as it may sometimes seem to let them suffer the consequences of their misguided actions those actions affect us as well.

Will Sharia law put an end to e-mail banking scams?

No, because they are just tricking the infidels.

Close, but no cigar.

i suspect that the vaccination program is actually part of the problem. Hear me out.

in islamic regions, there had aways been certain, um, natural checks on their population; limited water, limited arable land, a wide variety of interesting diseases, high rates of infant mortality, periodic internecine wars, things like that.

well, except for the last one, which has expanded outside their G-d-foresaken territory, these factors have been removed by mostly Western inventions and interventions.

end result? the ignorant s.o.b.'s breed their worthless kind right into the persian gulf. which would be fine, except that they happen to have a very useful commodity - oil. petro-dollars, and the socialist health-care systems of europe and the west, allow these beasts to survive the natural checks which a kind and loving G-d had placed on their numbers. In short, there's now more of them, they breed faster, live longer, and can do more damage.

(For an amusing parallel on the Gulf oil states, imagine the Beverly hillbillies dubbed into arabic. it turns out that the series is a perfect explanation of some of the more troubling and confusing aspects of the arab's behavior.)
