Husband burns house so wife won't get it
By J. Eric Eckard, Rocky Mount Telegram A Nashville man going through a divorce burned his home to the ground Wednesday in an effort to thwart his wife from receiving any property, Nash County authorities said.
"He said that his wife had left him, and he didn't want her to have everything that he had worked so hard for," a Nash County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.
The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, and included an armed stand-off with deputies. The man's name was not released because no crime was committed, the spokesman said.
"There was not a reportable offense," he added. "He never threatened to hurt anybody.
"As far as the house is concerned, it's his property, he can do anything he wants with it."
About 5 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters received a call about a residential blaze at a mobile home on the 8000 block of Old Bailey Highway. When firefighters arrived at the scene, the homeowner was standing in his front yard armed with a gun and ordered the emergency workers to let the fire rage, the spokesman said.
"He didn't point the gun at anybody," he added. "After the house burned down, he got in his truck and drove around back. Then, he sat there with the gun in his lap until we arrived.
"We weren't going to approach him for fear he might hurt himself or us - although he never threatened to do either."
About four hours later, the man began arguing with his daughter, telling her to leave the scene, the spokesman said. He stepped out of the truck, walked about 25-30 yards away without the gun and deputies then moved in to take him into custody.
"Then, we took him to Nash-Edgecombe Mental Health for evaluation," the spokesman said.

Wow. Sounds like the cops were really sympathetic with the guy. The wife must be a total tool.

When my son was small, we had to go to the local emergency room because of high fever caused by ear infection.
While we were there, a man was brought in who had cut his leg badly, but wouldn't seek medical attention. He was afraid his ex-girlfriend would sneak into his trailer and steal all the furniture while he was gone.
He got gangrene in his leg, and last I saw him he was being airlifted to another hospital to have the leg amputated.

I remember OJ Simpson trashed Nicole's car while the Police stood by because it was registered in his name.

Hey, look, this guy did
your screen name for real! Wonder
if he's a Rand fan . . .

"He said that his wife had left him, and he didn't want her to have everything that he had worked so hard for"This guy sounds like an idiot worth leaving.
And HE worked hard for this? So his wife didn't ever work? She didn't keep the house and raise the kids while he worked?
This guy is a fruitloop, and he should have to buy her another house.

I know a lot of men (and women) who felt just like this during their divorces......LOL! I am sure we all have. I am just wondering, however, what would be the breakdown? I would suspect more men want to burn their houses down, for exactly the reason this guy did.

Then there's the old, and probably apocryphal story about a guy who's lost somewhere in the suburbs, stops at a house to ask for directions...The lady who answers is nice, helpful, offers him a glass of lemonade. She mentions that she has a car for sale, it's backin the garage. He has a itle time, so, being polite, he asks to see it..Back in the garage, under a car cover, is a classic Porsche, beautifully restored. How much is it, he asks?..$100, she replies..You're kidding..NOpe, she says, My ex-, the SOB ran off with his secretary, took the money, left me the hosue. The car's in his name, so he told me to sell it and send him the money...soooooo

Hillary???? Naaah.
If he were married to Hillary, he would have set himself on fire.

I'm not that good with numbers, but I have a feeling you're exactly right. I'd say very few women feel this way.
Of course, that could be because women know that the courts usually side with them.
And before anybody jumps my case, I'm a WOMAN!

Wow! What an incredible story.
I bet she stole his stuff while he was in the hospital, though.
