They didn't have the 911 professional families there to cheer them on, so what's the point?

Exactly. A lot of them didn't bother to attend the sessions where Condi spoke to them in private, but you can bet the big grandstanders were there when it was televised.
I still think it was incredibly rude and obnoxious to walk out on the President's testimony.
No excuse I can think of would justify that.
