Some people had a hard time understanding that the movie was not about them.

But it is about him.

It is about all of us.

I don't listen to Krauth after his column in essence accusing The Passion -- and Christianity in general -- of being antisemitic.

Bingo!

Yes it about all of us, and not about just some subset of us. And it is about Him.

Has it ever occurred to you that the use of the sword for which Christianity has so often been condemned may have in many cases been used to try to fight off the muzzie invasions? Or take back territory after the towels overran it? Spin isn't a new phenomenon. Neither is revisionist history nor Christian-bashing.
I probably know mpore about the religious wars in the last 2000 years than you.
I am well aware of the nature of the Crusades as reconquests and of the Reconquesta. However, the Spanish had no such rationale with the invasions of the New World. (I'm not against these, either.)
It seems to me that you are wallowing in the same victimology that taints Krauthammer.

The movie could have included some context from within the Gospels. I believe that in the Gospel opf John, there is a scene where the High Priest Caiaphas convinces his selected members of the Sanhedrin of the necessity of killing Jesus. He states that if the people believe that Jesus is the Messiah, they will rise up against the Romans to the destruction of all. Caiaphas makes the case that it is better to kill this troublemaker than risk ruination.

"Out of curiosity, what do you think Christians should do? Stop celebrating the central event of our faith because some people have an irrational fear that doing so constitutes a hate crime?"

At no time did I say that the movie should not be released. My comment was on the reasoning that many Jews have for being afraid that the movie would cause problems. As for History, I was referring to plays put on in Europe, where pogroms have occured as a direct effect of Passion plays.
