"FYI: Commerce is southeast of LA - not north.
Flow is back to normal"
Normal? You mean traffic on the I-5 is at its usual standstill?

I'd be happier if they were protesting the REASONS for high gas prices:
Enviros who don't allow building refineries as we actually have a surplus of oil but can't refine it.
High gas taxes which Kerry and the Dems want higher.

They're in the wrong part of the country. If they were to do this on the Beltway, locking those commuting congressmen up in a huge traffic jam, maybe there would be an incentive to lower the federal tax on gas and diesel.
Wouldn't affect truckers in California; our RATs in the state legislature with a nod from Gumby when he was the man in office ensures that for every penny in reduction of federal taxes on fuels, state taxes rise the same amount.

"If they really wanted to protest, they should have shutdown 405 near the airport "
How would you be able to tell the difference from any normal day in the morning?

That's not what I'm hearing in the industry. My understanding is that there is a pretty severe shortage of qualified truck drivers from one end of this country to the other. The first problem is the long hours away from home. The second problem is that many of the prospective drivers who are willing to tolerate those conditions cannot pass the required drug tests.
To: mhking
Hope no one dies because they need emergency transport to the hospital and the route is blocked.
The trucker idiots would then be accessories to murder. Twits.

rights of others trying to get to work, school, the hospital, etc Wonder how those drivers and owners will feel about it
when the people they've harmed sue them.
If anyone dies because their ambulance couldn't get though charge the drivers with manslaughter

When I "did the trip"...dead stop on I-5 from the 605 FWY north - from 7AM till 9AM

This will get attention! I remember a few years ago several guys prostesting the low 55mph speed-limit between Dallas and Ft Worth, TX lined up across all west bound lanes and drove 55mph from Dallas to Ft Worth. Created one of the worse traffic jams in DFW.

The I-10? Man that fwy never moves even without trucks deliberately blocking it. I've been watching this while getting the little one ready for school. I-5 is finally moving. Apparently the truckers locked their trucks and walked away.

These terrorist truckers need to have their rigs inserted up their rectums. They've got no right to screw up the roads.

"Per KTTV, a couple of trucks have been moved on I-5, however, there are no keys in any of these trucks, and quite possibly no distributor wires. At least one trucker was seen reaching under the hood of his truck after stopping it." Diesel rigs don't have distributors, so you can bet not a one of them has distributor wires. And diesel rigs don't burn gas. That's why they're called "diesel." Of course, you can always yank out something else to keep the engine from running, but it won't be distributor wires.

Police unions suggest it might take some time to clear up the renegade protestors. Public is encouraged to join a union and to join the rally.
Unions dealing with unions. *sigh*
