May 2 (Bloomberg) -- Mexico and Peru recalled their ambassadors from Cuba following comments by Fidel Castro that both governments described as offensive.
The Cuban president said in his annual May 1 parade speech that Peru and other Latin American countries that backed a resolution against Cuba in a recent meeting of the United Nation's Human Rights Commission are examples of abjection and dependence on the U.S., according to the Cuban government's Web site. Castro also said multinational companies and the oligarchy rule in Peru, not President Alejandro Toledo, and that Mexico's prestige in the region ``has turned into ashes.''
