Beside being a really DFI this is a blatant attempt to franchise illegal aliens through their anchor babies

Just wait...those 14-year-olds, being children of parents who didn't abort their lives before they ever had a chance, probably will vote Republican, much to the chagrin of the Democrats. And watch a few of them spend the summer traveling the Golden State campaigning for a Constitutional amendment decreeing a part-time legislature, and a few initiatives to drastically limit the legislature's fun.
Okay, that might be a bit idealistic. But it's not impossible either.
Whoops. Those are the illegals. The only citizens left in California are left-wing liberals who don't reproduce so that they can exercise their right to choice. Oh, well.

I think the voting age should be raised to 21, and add back the requirement to own real property.
The Democraps are taking a chance here. I'd imagine most 14 - 17 year olds wouldn't vote, just like most under 20 don't vote. The kids that would vote would be, mostly likely, the home-schooled kids. This next generation seems to be more conservative; and more concerned the the to liberal baby-boomers (socialists) are sucking the nation dry and leaving them with the bill.

Hmm, 14 year olds voting on when they are old enough to:
a) drive
b) drink
c) smoke
d) have sex
Uh oh.

Are there any responsible people in California? Not since I left.

Does anybody remember that Shelley Winters + Hal Holbrook classic "Wild in the Streets"? View Wild in the Streets "14 and Ready" or "15 or Fight"Yep, I thought about the same movie when I saw the headline.
Looks like the crazy old hippies are finally trying to get their wish, as California swirls even further down the bowl.

Hmmm, but perhaps they won't want more money spent on schools, perhaps they will vote to restrict the school year to less than 6 months (wonder how the NEA will like that one).
California has a real problem.

California is so crazy that people are leaving the state and moving back to their home states now that jobs are so hard to come by here.
To: RogerWilko
California, eh?
Aren't these the same people who are about to make it a punishable offense to smoke in a car while driving with minor children?
The children are considered adults when it comes to voting, but are considered delicate hothouse plants when it comes to riding with a smoker?
Someone on the other thread said it best: Will the last sane person left in Kalifornia please turn out the lights?
To: newgeezer
Obviously, kids are way too ignorant and impressionable to vote. Until they reach a certain age, they believe their parents. Then, when they get around to "spreading their wings," they rebel against their parents' beliefs (typically for no other reason). Some of them eventually wise up with experience and the passage of time. The others remain liberals. I see people voting like their parents way past the age of 18. The idea of voting at 14 is rediculous. It's pretty questionable as to whether a person who cannot buy a beer should be trusted with voting for president or carrying an M16.

Truly insane. But you're right, if it ever makes it as far as to a statewide ballot I'll bet it'll lose BIG TIME.Big deal! The ACLU, et. al. will just do a little judge shopping, then bring it to court, and well...there you are.

So let me get this straight.....at 14, you're mature enough to vote, but........
You aren't mature enough to enlist in the military....
You aren't mature enough to drink an alcoholic beverage, or purchase cigarettes....
You aren't mature enough to consent to an "adult" relationship or marraige...
Democrats....."My base has shriveled and I can't get up!"
