It would seem that the Clinton war on online conservative news forums was just a prelude.

I don't quite understand the prohibition on excerpts, since that is legally protected under Fair Use, but it sure seems that -- if this nonsense keeps up -- we'll have an easier time keeping a list of sites we CAN use rather than a list of ones we can't.

I think the corporation is betting that even though FR is legally allowed to post Free Use excerpts, FR can't afford, or isn't willing to incur, the legal cost of defending a multi-million dollar lawsuit.

Other large corporations use similar tactics to discourage practices which they believe harm their image or their operations. I know because I once worked for a large corporation whose legal department often did something similar. At my company it was all bluff, just bark and no bite, but you can't assume it will always be that way with every company.
