If we find the story on the web by googling, and use the "cache" link on google, for example, that's ok?

that's true... it's not on "their" website... it's been googled.... and thus.... you can enjoin in any lawsuit, google, yahoo, msn, and excite for provide search capabilities = not to mention a suit against Lexus/Nexus.
