Interesting. I was hoping they'd go for broke for Rummy as I strongly suspect it would backfire on them. I think John Q. Public is actually a bit resentful of all the media coverage of this prisoner abuse story. I think everyone's a bit ashamed and knows we have to take our lumps, but the double standard the world is holding us to is painfully obvious to most everyone.

John Q Public has already been indoctrinated - my husband's son-in-law made the following statement last night, "Seems like just about everything has gone wrong since Bush became president".

I pointed out that 9/11 would have happened if Daffy Duck had been president, that it had been planned long before Bush was elected.

Whenever they let loose, it always does seem to backfire on them, doesn't it? (One poll I saw said 85% felt the 9/11 commission was mere partisanship.) But I wouldn't have thought Kerry was smart to realize this -- oh, wait, he doesn't. He just sees his own claimed "atrocities" in Viet Nam coming back to bite him. (Wonder what kind of mail/email he's getting from Viet Nam veterans . . .)

I get this feeling also. I have listened to talk radio the last couple days and the overwhelming response is support for Rummy.
