Pak Panchayat Orders Rape of Two Village Women (In the name of Allah the all-merciful…)

Islamabad – In a bizzare developement, a local jury (Panchayat) in Pakistan's Punjab Province recently ordered the rape of two village women, both related to each other by marriage, as retribution for the alleged illicit relations of a landlord's daughter with the brother of one of the girls.

The incident, which took place in Multan's Dinga Kabirwala village on April 30, has sent shock waves across the country and through the ruling political establishment.

Even Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has taken strong exception to it, saying that such incidents contravene the basic social tenets of Islam.

Musharraf has directed the federal Interior Minister, Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat, the Punjab Governor and its Chief Minister Chaudhary Pervez Elahi to order an investigation into the incident and to present the report to him.

"When a proper legal system exists in the country then who allows such decisions to prosper that not only destroyed the life of two girls, but has ruined an entire family," the Daily Times and Online News quoted Musharraf as saying about the rape of the two women in Dinga Kabirwala village on the orders of a local jury.

According to the local dailies, a landlord with full knowledge and cognizance of the local jury raped a young girl and her sister-in-law on April 30 in Basti Danga Naich, a suburb of Kabirwala.

The order to rape the girls was given after the brother of one them was accused of having illicit relations with the rapist's daughter.

So, a small group of Muslims say rape is OK.

A small group of Americans abused some prisoners.

Many people have used the event with the Americans to paint all Americans as people that would abuse prisoners.

So, in the case of the Muslims can we then presume that all Muslims are rapists? Or murders for that matter since a "small" group of them murderd 3000 people on 9/11. A "small" group of Muslims bombed people in Spain. Small groups of Muslims have done all sorts of murder all over the world. So, they are all murders?

The fact is that the Americans involved with the prisoners are a minority. And they will pay for what they did. But is this the case with the followers of Islam? Nope.

Granted that this incident is in Pakistan but it all folds back to Muslim doings.

The people who do this kind of $hit are the same ones that are pissed because a few misguided and none to intelligent guards decided to take some indiscreet photos.

I doubt whether this was prescribed by the Qran. But it does accord well with the Muslim attitude that family honor is all important, that the unchastity of women in the family dishonors the men of the family even if they are "unchaste" involuntarily only because they were raped, and that women are basically the property of men.

Once you make those assumptions, then there's a certain logic to this judgment. In other words, you rape my women, so I rape yours, and we're even.

Yes, but they may have also understood the jury's motivation, which was, I suspect, to head off one or more honor and revenge killings. This isn't to excuse anyone, just to explain what I feel is pretty likely going on.
